The Los Angeles Clippers believe they have a legitimate shot of signing Paul Pierce following Jason Kidd's move to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Pierce was traded from the Boston Celtics to Brooklyn Nets last offseason and palye for Doc Rivers for several seasons.

Pierce has also heard from the Portland Trail Blazers, Memphis Grizzlies, Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets.

Every little crumb of information I'm hearing right now seems to add fuel to the idea we're going full youth movement... the pipe dream idea that we'd land Kevin Love, land asik and afflalo, sign Pierce to be 6th man, etc... seems long gone.  Now we're dealing with the real possibility that we're moving Rondo and doing a long-term build around the kids.

Fine with me, as long as we pick a direction. Want to contend and go all out for Love and other veterans? Great. Want to go full youth and take the long road? Also great. Just pick a direction.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

The only chance Pierce is signing with the C's is to do a ceremonial "end of his career" bit with us. I don't think he's hit that point mentally yet.

I like the direction of maintaining the flexibility of going either way.

Eventually we have to choose though? No?

Not necessarily.

Right of course! I'm at ease with that plan now.

Hold out hope that a star will become available and can be acquired.  Try to bring along young talent while keeping the team good enough to be attractive to such a star.  Refuse to intentionally crater like the 76ers.

Just the opposite. Keep your options open until an opportunity presents itself to take a direction. Don't paint youself in a corner.

If we'd gotten Love, it's more likely we would have called Pierce, especially if Green had been included in a deal to Minnesota.  But given our current roster, which includes $19 million committed to the small forward position next year, and our likelihood of competing for a championship (nil) it would make little sense for Ainge to waste his own time or Pierce's.  If something changes before Pierce signs, perhaps that call will be made, but currently, what's the point?

We are not getting Pierce back. The only time he will come back is when he raises his jersey into the rafters.

KBergCBS: Nets reached out as soon as negotiating window opened to their own free agents Paul Pierce, Shaun Livingston and Alan Anderson, source says.

KBergCBS: Brooklyn not expected to make immediate offer to Pierce, source says. Team?s commitment to 36-year-old will be dictated by market.

Blazers, Grizzlies, Bulls, Mavericks, Rockets ? teams I?m told called tonight to register interest in Brooklyn?s Paul Pierce BESIDES Clips

Why do you say that? I'd think moving to the Clips would make the most sense for him.

why would pierce go there? to be a bench player?
pierce with nets and pierce with clippers who has the better chances of winning, with nets new defensive coach maybe hollins,

kg said he won't retire, so pierce will probably accept 8 to 9 or 10 million salary
the nets had beaten the clippers the last season
