Cody Zeller anyone?

Just thinking since they drafted Vonleh that zeller might be expendable? I know he was a high pick but mayb something cntered around green and mayb a cutie first? I'm thinking he can come in and possibly grow into our center of the future. We could give him all the minutes he needs to develop. Especially if we are planning on tanking again this year moving green would probably be ideal. Maybe Bradley, green for zeller and filler. 


What do you guys think?

i'd prefer no more offensive-minded bigmen..
rather be going for bismack on that team.

Intriguing player but I do not think this is the right moment for the Celtics to take on a guy like him. A guy like him being bad defensively, undersized center, bit of a tweener who needs to develop jump-shot to slide back to PF position.

Already finding it hard enough to find balance with Sully, Olynyk and Bass in big man rotation. Trying to fit a guy like Cody Zeller into that too = too complicated. Too difficult. Not worth it. I do think someone should take a chance on Cody Zeller but I don't think it should be Boston.

Depending on the money involved I like all the bigs in Charlotte.

Josh McRoberts just opted out of his contract with them after being horribly underpaid last year, so they may not want to give away a big quite yet.

Also they have MKG at sf, and I don't think they make him a backup or pay Green 9mill to be a backup either.

I think McRoberts will be back in Charlotte.  When he opted out, the GM (I think) said something to the effect of "We expected him to opt out since he deserves more money the way he played, and we'll work on bringing him back."  Obviously nothing is guaranteed, but there seems to be an understanding between McRoberts and Charlotte.

I live in the Carolina's so I watch a fair amount of Hornets basketball. Zeller is an impressive athlete. He is quick, and long and strong. I see no reason he could not be a decent defensive player. I would be surprised if Charlotte would give him away. Biyombo is undersized and still looks lost on the floor. He is a good athlete, but I just don't know if he ever puts it all together. He did not play much this year and is in the last year of his rookie contract. I think he could be trade bait, just do not know if he ever becomes a valuable player. MKG's shot is totally broken. They spent the entire year adjusting his footwork, and his shot is just straight out funky. Shawn Marion looks like Walter Davis compared to MKG.

The new Hornet GM seems to be competent, so I think they will work on MKG and Zeller, resign McJesus, and work Vonleh in slowly. They are a fun team to watch. Big Al had a sneaky good season last year. He and Kemba are good enough to get a team to the playoffs. If MKG and Vonleh and Zeller all improve, they could be a 45 win team.

Solid athlete, great height, but poor wingspan and standing reach. KO has better standing reach.

I think this hurts Zeller as a C prospect. He may be a better PF, much like KO as he develops. That said, I'm always interested in getting athletic bigs with a variety of skills on the team.

I didn't realize he had such a relatively short standing reach.  Out of curiosity, I looked up his brother Tyler's measurements.  He's 6'11.25" barefoot and just over 7' in shoes, he has a 7' wing span, and his standing reach is only 8'8.5".  Does that family have really long necks or something?  :)

I did not realize his standing reach was only 8'10". He looks long but like knuckleballer said it must be all neck. His no step vertical is 35.5 so I guess that helps, I saw him snatch a rebound last year against the Wiz' and I swear his head was above the rim. Short arm players are at a disadvantage though in how much space they consume. His 3/4 court sprint is impressive, I am excited about the Hornets season.

Just for clarity I am a Celtic fan. I go to a couple of games a year in Charlotte, so I keep up with the franchise more than I do other teams.

Rumor has it we have interest in Jordan Hill. That's a smart move IMO.  We know what we are getting with him. Good team guy.

Meh... guys who can play are overrated.  This team is building for the future.  Keep our focus on 3-5 years from now.

Biyombo is still only 21 years old and averaged 12 rebounds, 3 blocks on 61% shooting per 36 minutes.   I'd be cool with getting him.

Biyombo would be a good addition. We need a center that can play D and Block shots. Can Deandre Jordan play?

Oh good.  Just what we need - another player who has been charged with domestic abuse.  In Hill's case, it was for choking his ex-girlfriend in his Houston apartment, I believe.  Way to go, Danny.  It's nice to see that you're all about 'high character' individuals.  He's not even that good.  He's an energy and effort type of player, and we already have Joel Anthony for that ::)
