What do u guys think of
Rondo and Green to Houston for Lin, Parsons, and Capela

Houston may as well use Parsons while his value is skyhigh while also ridding themselves of Lin and replacing him with a top 5 PG (their greatest need) when healthy... They also get Jeff Green who is a bit of an offensive downgrade at the 3 from parsons but is quite as good if not better defensively.. He is also an athletic player and is a good 3 pt shooter which would work well with their system... But if Ainge isnt willing to resign Rondo for the rumored $100/5 deal, then he may view this as an opportunity to acquire a young star to become the teams SF for the long run as he would be locked up long term in a sign and trade...this also opens up more minutes at the point for Smart and provides PG depth with Lin coming off the bench... Finally we get Capela as a project bigman for the future...
The rosters would look something like this:
HOU:
Rondo/Beverley/Nick Johnson
Harden/Troy Daniels/ Aaron Brooks
Green/Garcia/Caspi
TJones/Motiejunas
Howard/Powell
BOS:
Smart/Lin/Pressey
Bradley/Young/Babb
Parsons/Wallace/CJ
Sully/Bass/Capela
Olynyk/Fav/Iverson

Both teams look good to me

Isn't Parsons a free agent? Houston can't trade him

He can be got thru Sign and trade I think its overpaying to do this deal. They are the level of player the pro tanking folk want traded off this team and the type the fireworks brigade reckon won't get us contending.

This is a really bad trade for the C's.

A couple of noteworthy things about this deal. First, the trade as you wrote it assumes we're paying Parsons between $8-12M/yr (I would assume on a 4 year deal) which is equal or more than we pay for Green right now. Second, it means we're eating a bad contract in Jeremy Lin.

Green's stats last year were very close to Parsons. I'd be willing to wager if you put Green on a team with Harden and Howard his stats would look better than Parson's did last year. Also he will probably try to defend once in a while...

If Houston adds in TJ, Demo, right to swap 1sts in 2017 and their 1st round pick from 2018 then I'm listening. Otherwise I don't want to trade our all star PG and leading scorer for a wildly overpaid backup and a SF swap.

For the record, I'm on the keep Rondo bandwagon :)

Can you please change the title to "idea"? Titles like these can be misleading.

This makes very little sense for both teams.

I think Houston are pretty happy with Beverley at the point. He's an elite defender, not ball-dominant on the offensive end, and shoots the 3 very well. Rondo would probably make them a better team in a straight swap, but he's going to get at least $15m/year next summer and Houston already have 2 max contracts on their cap sheet. That money would be better spent on a 3 or a stretch 4.

For Boston, we basically move laterally at SF and we get to pay the replacement around $3m/year more than what we're currently paying Green. Then, we're giving up our best asset (Rondo) to take on $10m of Jeremy Lin and a raw, headcase big man who might never play a minute in the NBA.

First of all, were only taking Lin for a year, he would be off the books next year and we could target Deandre Jordan or Marc Gasol... Second, the reason i think this trade is good for us, because unlike some of u, i dont think getting Parsons is a lateral move from green.. He would get a similar contract but his production is much better... Hes a better ball handler and arguably a better shooter as well... But the most important thing about Parsons that i favor him over Jeff Green is that he plays with heart and he brings it every night.. Hes a hustler and he would fit perfectly with this celtics team

Im also on the keep rondo bandwagon but as i said in the OP ainge would consider this if he isnt willing to extend rondo for the rumored $100/5 deal...

But the title is presented as a trade rumor. If this was an idea you should have just put Idea on it.

I dont hate the idea. Lin would give Smart some time to study and practice the schemes before being thrust into the prime starting role. Parsons and Green are close talent wise. I feel it lacks another piece going to C's however. My guess would be Danny tries scoring Terrance Jones, Capela, Lin and Parsons at the very least for Rondo and Green.

I dont see TJones included in the deal as it would leave the Rockets extremely shorthanded at PF if they also give up Capela... Its one or the other and id prefer Capela
