I can see playoff teams offering him the MLE. C's should give him a 3 year $18m deal, that would give the young guys a chance to learn behind him and eventually/hopefully take over for him. Anything more than that is over paying IMO.

I don't see the Rondo/Bradley pairing as a good option. Though they've had time (albeit with long term injuries for both mixed in) to gel as a pair, I don't really like the combo.

I think the Celtics should really look at using Bradley as a trade piece.

I think that is ultimately what Ainge wants. Draft night signaled to me the ship has sailed on his future in Boston. I think he's trade bait unless someone offers him something ridiculous.

"C's offer AB $3.58 million" is quite a misleading title... what they offered was simply the qualifying offer... it's not what they're actually offering Avery Bradley for his services.

Meh... an irrelevant figure. The relevance is "C's extend qualifying offer to Avery Bradley" since that's the crucial part.

Is is the max QO they could offer him?.  If so, I see your point but it seems like a lowball offer. Some other team will offer a little more ( he is probably worth more in this market.  THEN, we will see if C's match it, or if the AB ship has truly sailed.

The way things went or currently are at with no Love but smart drafted.  I see Bradley as a sign and trade.  I think his shooting range is the only thing that separates him from from smart to Bradley's favor.  Smart and rondo as a starting backcourt is pretty impressive.  Smart is physical with more size than ab but not much if ANYdrop in defense.  Smarts range isn't the same but as long as green is still with team along
With fav, ko, sully then the floor is spread for lanes for rondo and smart.  They can break down a defense and kick.  I like Bradley at arice.  I was not happy with the shot jacking last season.  If he is resigned great.  If he's a sign and trade for a big, great.

A much as I like AB's Pitbull mentality on defense, he really isn't much of a good fit on Steven's  motion offense because of his lack of passing and ball handling skills; basketball IQ (same as with Jeff Green). He is much more expendable now with Smart and Young on the roster.

That's about exactly what I thought he was worth .3.5 mil is all I would pay....mainly cause he is a good guy and young.

I would more likely to keep him on a contender off the bench specialist ......

I just don't see Avery as starter material.

The Celtics need ...ELITE starters in the worst way to compete.

Same with Bass .....he is a Role player or second stringer.....not a starter .......he is a bad fit for a young club rebuilding ....or tanking

I think Smart has AB's range, just AB has had more time to work on it being in the league a bit longer. Remember how bad AB shot when he first came in, and turned it over and over and over again. But before he got hurt two season ago, it started to click, and last season he was hitting them with regularity.

Smarts issue is inconsistency. When he's hot he can really shoot it, and I think the shooting coach's will help with the little issue of range that he might have. I think Smarts D will be better because he moves his feet a bit better, and with his longer arms can stay off his man a little more. He also isn't going to get abused by the bigger guards like AB would at times. His size is a huge plus.

And I love that Smart said he wants to guard Lebron. Not that he will have a lot of success, but I bet he'll pick his pocket once or twice. Or at least shut Wade down, like AB did a few times.

I hope this is a sign of an offer to Minni for Love.

Can't let AB go, as he's one of the only Celtic offensive threats!  When he was hurt last season their weak offense became utterly woeful.  He did jack up alot of shots last year, but one, because he had to, and two, because he was able to, unlike most of our other players! His shooting improved big time, and even though he'd go into a funk for a game or two, generally he was almost automatic on his J! But, hey, even RA would go on streaks of several games where he would just be lost on his shot!
AB is young, a tenacious defender, and never stops hustling! Keep him, unless the price is just obscene!

The amount of the qualifying offer is a fixed amount.

The alternative is a maximum qualifying offer, but that's an offer for a max contract and what not. It has no relevance here.

So as I alluded prior, the relevant part in all of this was that the qualifying offer (which is a fixed amount) was extended... not the amount of it.

Plan: Sign him for as cheap as possible maybe 4 m. Then do a sign and trade with a western conference team for their pick. Choose the team that may have more of a chance to lose if there is one injury to the starting five. For example, Dallas even with Tyson Chandler, could be a team too old and slow....and then bc of age there is always the threat of injury or severely reduced minutes.

Any other playoff teams that you would want an unprotected first from?

There should be plenty of interest in Bradley at least to the point where the Celtics can sign and trade him for a combination of a big and a pick. If I was a betting man I'd say he is likely the first one moved
