I don?t understand, Julius Randle is one of the best players in this draft and Celtics pass?. I think him and Vonleh are best pf in this draft. Randle to Lakers (to the enemy).
For me a missed opportunity for Boston, Smart a great player but Randle seems to me better player with more conditions.

You won't have that opinion for long.

here we go again...

Smart and Randle are both good picks imo...I won't necessarily say Randle is a much better pick than Smart..

I think Smart offers multiple solutions to the Celtics whether you believe he will replace Rondo or Bradley...or have a 3 guard rotation between the 3. I like what he provides on the team

Randle on the other hand, we already have a log jam of PF in Sully and KO...and also in Bass

Now Randle might instantly be better than KO and it's debatable if he will overtake Bass or Sully, either way, 4 PF...who do you trade? who to keep? ok, who is playing center? neither of those 4 are real centers

Randle also has a foot issue which has largely been ignored on this site among those who wanted him.  So keep that in mind as well.

I had the feeling we we're going to see/ hear a lot of C's fans complaining that the Lakers picked ______! we should've picked him!!!!

You may be right, but even if you have to Sullinger, Bass, you can not pass up the opportunity as an excellent pf as Randle, is my opinion.
This player is very similar to Z-Bo.

I'm interested to see how his game translates to the NBA where there will be actual big men in the paint defending him.

For me a missed opportunity for Boston, Smart a great player but Randle seems to me better player with more conditions.

More conditions indeed...

1) Physcal condition (foot injury)
2) Mental condiction (arrogance)

Lets consider some points.

Randle declined the Celtics second workout.  His excuse was that he felt he had "already shown enough".   Who the hell does this guy think he is?  If I go to a job interview, and then they request for me to come to a second interview - am I going to say "forget it, I've already shown you enough"?  Hell no, that's a sure fire way to NOT get a job.

Apparently after the Lakers selected Randle, he made a comment along the lines of "all the teams who passed on me are going to regret it".

Really?? How arrogant is this kid?  This is the NBA, and he has proven NOTHING.  He's an undersized PF who is a horrendously poor defender, who can't hit a jumper, who has limited post moves, and can only score to one side.  Not exactly "mind blown" material.  He got through his entire college career by simply being bigger and stronger than everybody else he played against, and just bullying them around.  Can't wait until the first time he comes up against a "real" NBA big man and gets his butt handed to him on a platter.

But anyway, simple explanation.  Boston already has four PF's who are not rim protectors.  Randle is a Pf who is not a rim protector.  Question answered.

Incomprehensible?

I think, "I would have preferred Randle" would have sufficed.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

For every bit of Z-Bo I see in Randle, I see an equal amount of D-Wade in Smart.

I'll take D-Wade over Z-Bo.

Just sayin! :)

But we got Smart?

We already have two high upside PF's. And I have a feeling that Stevens and DA want to have PF's that can really spread the floor. Randle can't do that yet.

He also blew off the C's to do a spread for GQ. That right there is bad attitude when it comes to basketball. Make a team first, than do the glamor pics for a magazine.

Smart came to work, he even takes about willing yourself into being good, and working hard, and earning what you get. Randle may not have that attitude, and Smart will excel for it.

If we picked Randle then we would have been developing 3 PF's at the same time. They wouldn't benefit from that. And would get a low return on some one because they aren't developed enough.

Randle blows, he's undersized, zero post game, doesn't use his right hand, and his entire game is built on overpowering weaker opponents. Something that wont happen in the nba. Yes he can get rebounds and can finish under the rim but so can a ton of other nba players.

Randle has a low ceiling, Smart has the potential to be very very good.

Lets see...

Randle:
No defense
Bad foot
Relies on bullying the d down low for 100% of his pts which he will not be able to do all of the time in the NBA. No J
Skipped 2nd workout with Cs to do a style interview

Think DA made the right choice here

Randle was by every test, eye, stats and analytics a horrible defender. He really is no better than Sullinger I assure you. We would be paying a guy to be Sullinger V.2 an extra 4 million a year.

Smart was the best player at 6.
