Winners
Cleveland...got the right guy hands down. Attractive to free agents and Kyrie. Attractive to Canadian fans (they should absolutely try to expand their brand to Canada now with TWO top Canadian picks in the past two drafts on the same team). Replaces Deng who can walk and save them money
Milwaukee....got a GREAT prospect to go with the Greek Freak. But look at the 2nd round. A fine Euro stash but also a two time all-sec player. Those guys don't grow on trees. Both C Parsons and Glen Davis were SEC guys taken in the 2nd round and I think Bass was too. So they took a shot.
Philly....got possibly the best player in the draft and a good Euro stash but then they rocked the 2nd with another good euro stash, KJ McD, Jerami Grant, and Jordan McRae. They also got a future first and second from Orlando
Orlando ...every reason to be happy even thought Philly slaughtered them in the trade. They got a 6ft 4 pg to go with Oladipo, only he can learn for a year or two behind Jameer. Also got one of the single best athletes in the draft (A Gordon)
Jazz...Exum. Great player for them. Rodney Hood late in the first.....sweet.
Lakers. Hung tight and get a high floor guy. Also bought Jordan Clarkson late in the 2nd round.
Charlotte....love what they did. They gave MKG another year. Brought in an athletic UNC guy late in the first that has already done well in the NBDL and ACC and now look at their big man rotation....Al Jefferson, Josh McRoberts, Cody Zeller, Noah Vonleh. In two years that could be really good and they insure themselves.
Suns....ain't nothing wrong with this. Ennis, TJ Warren, a fine Euro stash, and a 7ft 1 center late in the 2nd. Depth. Gotta have it.
Denver.....murdered the Bulls giving up Doug McDermott and getting back Jusuf N, Gary Harris and a 2015 2nd rounder. They'll wait a year or two on Jusuf, which is fine. They have bigs up the yin yang now.
Rockets. Smartly avoided a trap and went for a very good stash guy while their roster is full. They have no business adding salary while trying to get a great player in a trade or free agency.
The Heat. Napier should make Lebron happy and maybe give an important position an upgrade
Spurs....Kyle Anderson at 30? That is the fault of the losers in this draft. Unreal.
Losers.
Celtics....just plain didn't get what they needed. Got what they didn't need. Didn't make fireworks happen. Started committing to a long rebuild through the draft.
Orlando.....yeah. I just put them in the winners. But ask yourself this. Is Elfrid Payton worth Dario Saric? And a future first? And a future 2nd? They better hope so
Sactown....took McLemore last year. Took Stauskas 8th this year. Don't like it.
Bulls. Traded two great players and future stuff for Doug McDermott. Until I see Melo walk through their door they're a draft day loser in my book.
T Wolves.....they need a big man pretty badly. Naturally they took two wings and a euro stash wing
Hawks. A Payne. Not really a bad pick. I thought there was better out there. Tavares is an interesting stash. I just think the nba (draft) is like the Game of Thrones. You win or you die. I don't think they won here. If you're not first you're last and that's pretty much the Hawks every single year no matter what they do or where they pick. Granted they have Al Horford coming back, and Lucas N from last year and Dennis Schroeder turning like 19. But still. Whoop de doo
Raptors.....Worst. Pick. Ever. One of em anyway. Yes. I get that free agents don't sign with the Raps. Would you? Would you sign with a team that makes picks like this?
Thunder....not in love with their picks at all. Not at all.
Memphis...took Jordan Adams with Kyle Anderson on the board. Folks. This is why the Spurs are better
Brooklyn.....they were dinking around in the 2nd round doing very little of consequence.
