Extreme opinions are always in the mix. There are some who think Rondo is a top whatever player and was the best player on our title team, best PG,... To me that is just as extreme as saying Rondo is the 30th best PG in the league.
I think trading Rondo soon is a good option, not because I think he is a bad player but because I think it is very likely we will either over pay or lose him at the end of the season. I would have no problem if he accepted the max extension this off season but it doesn't look like he will do that.
I thought Rondo for #8 and McLemore seemed like a good trade for both but apparently either Sac or Boston didn't think so. Rondo is not the #30 PG in the league, but it is also not heresy to believe that trading Rondo can produce a favorable outcome.
I believe that Rondo likes Boston and is not looking to get out or anything like that but I also don't think he is going to want to play the prime of his career on a rebuilding team. I think he wants to do what LeBron and Carmelo are doing, pick his team and teammates, go where he want to go; and why not.
He is trying to do what he can help get a star to Boston and if that happens, yeah, he will stay and maybe take some discount like the other big names seem to do these days. It is hard to believe though that we are going to get that star. Rondo is not a big enough name to attract another big name I don't think (trading for Love may still be an option though).
