To be perfectly honest, if Smart ever improves his shooting, and works on his overall game, I would say out of Embiid/Wiggins potentiality wise, I think he would be the best player out of the draft.

Smart reminds me of Wade/Harden hybrid albeit slightly less quicker, despite the fact he was actually top 3 in prospects in lane agility, quickness, and overall speed.

Smart will definitely be an starter for years to come... His ability to anticipate passes, defense, switches, and his infinite motor is what will most likely net him at least 3-4 All Defense First or Second.

He also needs to improve his passing, so we'll see.

I think realistically Smart was never or shouldn't have ever been logged as a PG anyways. He was the undisputed scorer imo on the Oklahoma State team.

And I disagree with 4th or 5th best... Hes a great scorer... The finishing ability, and getting to the free throw line is a HUGE ASSET in this league nowadays..

Smart- Ceiling 5-6x Allstar: Floor: Starter
Young- Ceiling: 6th man, could maybe start on mediocre teams. Floor: Bust/back up swing men.

Don't know much about Young's game, but I do know hes a dead eye. His stats are inflated, because the Harrison twins are a great back court, but they aren't solidified passers, nor do they know how to create space for others.

So Young had to take a lot of 3 pt shots. We'll see. I like Young already, same goes for Smart. They seem like great individuals, and I can see them as a perfect fit for the locker room.

I think he will become a better shooter. And I think he will be a more athletic dwell and much better defense.

Informative positive fact filled post and threads.  I feel better about the draft already from reading the information here. 
 Off topic -but I think the team is better now then it was yesterday.  There were players I would have more preferred, but truthfully, I wasn't even aware of Young, thus my knowledge of most prospects is rudimentary at best.  The off topic aspect is that "maybe" Love can still be had for Green, Sullinger, and at a maximum two first round picks.  I like the guard rotation with the defensive bite  of it, and hope Rondo and Bradley both are back. 
  If Love was obtained, could a person knowledgeable on the cap tell be if Carmelo would be a possibility should Bass, the trade exceptions if any are left after Love, and the like be utilized to create space for another starting free agent.
  Even if not, again, thanks for the informative contributions to this post.

realistically speaking...they are pieces...you don't build a team around them...smart should be the 4th or 5th best player on your team...young should be the 7th or 8th best player on your team...i highly doubt either will be an all-star...not really danny's fault....he couldn't have done much better...the lesson is to learn how to TANK like Milwaukee and Philly

Lesson?  You'd think a guy that's been in the league as long as Danny would already know this.  We have a ton of drafts for the next few years and he did what with them to try and move up?  2nd round guys availalbe and did what to get them?  Like I said before, not caring much about Smart, but Young?  Geez.

Young's ceiling is as a sixth man? Wow, that's incredibly pessimistic. Chad Ford and Fran Fraschilla compared him to Bradley Beal, and I like that Michael Redd comp. Still needs a lot of development, but he could become a big-time scorer.

Unfortunately, I think that Young's best comps at this stage are Marshon Brooks, Jordan Crawford, and Nick Young. His "floor," is Marshon Brooks... a little bit of run early in his career to see if he can improve followed by D-league and disappearance.

His ceiling is a volume scorer that shoots pretty well from all over, draws fouls, and is good enough to get by in other facets. Dreaming big, that's Joe Johnson.

So we should trade all our picks in the future to move up a few spots ?  We weren't getting a top 2 pick without giving up a TON and that's even if the teams up there were willing to trade.  Or did you want to move up from 17 and get who?  Nobody after picks 1-3 is any different or worth trading up for.  Danny added more quality players and that's all you can ask for.  People get a little to worked up about the draft.  Half of those picked in the top 20 will underperform  There will be a few surprises as well.   Young has a ton of potential and he's only 18!

Smart's ceiling is definitely HOF. Tell me, what did DWade do at this stage of his career that Smart does not? You seriously undersell Smart's D if you don't think he has this potential.

As to his floor, it's Avery Bradley with better size, athleticism and ability to get the rim but worse shooting.

Young / Starter / Out of the league - can shoot lights out and defends well but can be too passive.

Why Young-Redd?

Redd has the slingshot shot and can shoot over guys.

Young's shot reminds me of Harden's. Like Durant or Harden shoots ridiculous distances with ease and a somewhat fast trigger.
