He attacks the basket, gets to rim or draws fouls. NOBODY on our team does that. You have to a go to skill in the NBA and Smart has it. Who is going to check this guy? He is a bull who can change direction and is fast. You can't hand check anymore so this guy is going to get to the rim.

I love the Smart pick. He attacks the basket, gets to the FT line a lot, and just flat out knows how to play and competes hard. He's a also a tough defender and doesn't back down from anyone. Great choice, he's going to be a very special player. Better than Exum, and likely one of the top 3 players to come out of this draft in the long run.

I have not been in the happiest person with this draft but yes, Marcus Smart can be the best player, or one of the three best players who comes out of this draft.  He can develop a jump shot, the mechanics need ironing but the foundation is there.  And he can play next to Rondo, as he's more of an unselfish scoring guard than a one guard. He's pretty suited to play the 2 in a Brad Stevens system.

I'm still sulking over Embiid and Stauskus.

Thank you!

He's not the pro typical point guard, but more a player like Russel Westbrook

Oh, and he and Jabari Parker have to be the early favorites for rookie of the year.  They should finish one, two, not sure what order.

I've been repeating this since the end of the season...

The ability to draw fouls is an underrated attribute for the best players of the NBA (and he did so at an elite level in College). The league leaders in Free Throw Attempts are a who's who of the best scorers in the league. Instead of avoiding contact ala Jeff Green (part of the reason Jeff has plateaued), he looks for it. It's a skill that is crucial for closing out games in the NBA.

Smart's ability to guard multiple positions at a high level combined with his physical attributes and ability are going to make him a mismatch against the vast majority of his opponents. Too strong for 1's, too quick for 2's, and he can shutdown either.

His shot? Smart won't be the first nor the last to come into the NBA without a refined shot. Even the best shooting prospects need time to develop their shot at the NBA level (McLemore last year and Beal before him). Matter of fact, most of the top players have had shot issues coming into the league.

Whatever the case, whether he pans out or not, Marcus is going to prove his ability as a CELTIC.

People keep pigeon-holing him into the PG position, but I think he is a great fit next to Rondo. Rondo can draw in the defenders dish to Smart and he can drive and attack the defense that is already moving.

If this kid develops even just a 33% 3PT shot, he will be one of the 3 best players in this draft. If his shot develops even better than that well he will be the best player. But that is the question obviously.

He is the Lebron James of pg's. I have been saying he fixes the dip in his shot and becomes a great shooter. Have faith guys.

I don't think Smart will get the playing time to be among the top rookies in PPG.  ROY tends to go to the rookie who scores the most.

Exactly. We just got something back we haven't had since KG and Pierce left... intensity.

He will if we move Rondo. I really thought tonight would have answered that.....maybe it did.
