Didn't see this anywhere so I thought I'd post...(from Hoopshype):

Quote
Adrian Wojnarowski: Sacramento and Boston discussing a trade sending Ben McLemore to Celtics for the 6th pick, league source tells Yahoo Sports. Twitter @WojYahooNBA

Sorry in advance if I didn't post in the right spot!

That'd be great.  McLemore is probably going to be a better player than Smart.  Prototypical SG with legit size (6'6), amazing stroke, great athleticism... Just young and inexperienced.

Smart's another undersized combo guard who can't shoot.

People understandably are down on McLemore because he had a rough year.

What's Sac keeping 8th have to do with it?  Actually the fact they took a SG 8th means trading McLemore for a PG (Smart) makes it more plausible.

something doesn't add up guys. Why would Sac pick Stauskus when they already have Mclemore??

I think the Celts could flip Smart for Mclemore OR Rondo for Mclemore. Makes better sense for both teams

That's a sweeping statement.
Analytics disagree with you too.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Rondo or Smart for McLemore?? The guy chosen 7th in a bad draft who showed very little during his rookie season? Before the draft, I could have seen a 6 (or Rondo) for 8 and McLemore swap, but McLemore was hardly the principle part of the deal. I just don't see it anymore with Stauskas - could have with Vonleh.

Why would SAC pick a guy at the same spot as McLemore? Why would McLemore be in every SAC trade rumor? Why would McLemore be on the market half way through his rookie year?

Don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to figure this one out. McLemore had a historically bad rookie year.

Smart had the best advanced stats of any prospect in this draft, though I think they overstate his value.  Smart won't get to the rim as much as he did in college nor get as many +1s, but neither will Gordon or Randle or Warren or anyone else who got to the rim more than a 3rd of the time in college. OTOH, Smart's huge for his size and unlike those other players, will be a mismatch every time he's on the floor.

Read this article comparing them when they were both expected to join the 2013 draft:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1533178-who-has-the-brighter-nba-future-ben-mclemore-or-marcus-smart

The belief was that McLemore had a brighter future.  Smart stuck around another year and didn't show improvement.

Yes, McLemore struggled shooting his rookie year (as do most players that age/experience level, btw)... but he proved he was an elite shooter in College.   Smart couldn't shoot in College... prob will not be able to shoot in the pros.  As much as Mclemore struggled making the transition... Smart might be even worse.

I still think Mclemore has star potential.  NOt so sure about Smart.
