Considering the draft order is still up in the air, I don't think he could've answered that with any certainty. And even if he could, it's never been his M.O. to be 100% truthful up front.

EXACTLY. Way too many people wanted Ainge to sell the future for a year of Rondo + Love + nothing. That, or they want to build a solid culture of losing. Why not let some prospects develop, compete a little bit, clear some salary, and make some big moves once there's a clear team core moving forward?

Three things came out...

Ainge saying we shouldn't rush rebuilding.

Ainge saying there are no franchise players in this draft.

Boston reporters saying Ainge is most likely to trade down.

Translation:  We aren't getting Love, we aren't getting a top pick, Embiid is probably getting snatched up by Philly... and we are probably standing pat or moving down a few spots to get someone like Gordon (who many project 10th)
