Some combination of taking Embiid/trading Rondo.
They said worst-case... not best-case.
Looks like Celtics fans have a very different idea of what they want to happen tonight then.  ;)

I just want what's best for the team. If Embiid does stay healthy and turns into an All Star then I'll be extremely happy. I just don't think he will stay healthy.

And I'm a big Rondo fan so it'd be tough for me to see him go.

You dont win in the NBA without taking risks. Get embiid. Tank another year. Shoot for okafor, towns, or tyus Jones. Repeat. Have the youngest fastest coolest team.

Best case scenario....trading Rondo and getting Embiid.

We should stay away from Embid, he was barely a top 20 player in college.

It depends on whose stats you use.  Other people who do not use Hollinger's stats rate Embiid pretty highly.

Id probably cry if we pass on Embiid

I will cry if we trade Rondo...I am sucker for true point guards and he is one of the very few in the NBA....I will also be a little upset if we pass on Embid. In my mind I would be willing to forgive DA for making that pick if he turns out to be the next Oden..It is a worthwhile gamble IMO I would be much less likely to forgive DA if he goes to the Lakers and becomes an alltime great...
2025 Fantasy Draft Philadelphia 76ers:
PG: Rajon Rondo '11-'12;  WestBrook; Wall
SG: James Harden '18-'19 Marcus Smart
SF: Andrei Kirilenko '05-'06; Peja Stojakovic
PF: Anthony Davis '17-'18;   Kevin Love, Griffin
C: Amare Stoudemire '04-'05;   Marcus Camby

I think my worst case is a scenario where DA drafts BPA and that creates a roster log jamb. I worry that Randle will be the BPA at #6 and DA will draft him and a Sully trade for a true center is not eminent. I think a move like this would hurt Sully, KO and Randles development. I don't think DA would put Stevens in this situation.

Definite worst case scenario is drafting Artem Klimenko, C, Russia, at #6 overall.

Lessee, worst case scenario for me would be:

1) We don't trade for Love and instead he ends up in Cleveland with Carmelo.  Minnesota picks Wiggins who goes on to play 4-6 years as the best SG in the NBA, carrying the TWolves to the first round of the playoffs & out a couple of times before (like KG & Love before him) getting traded.
2) We trade Rondo in order to get the #8 pick plus some chump change.
3) We use the #6 & the #8 to take Smart and Randle.
4) Embiid gets taken by the Lakers at #7.   He becomes the next Hakeem.
5) We trade the #17 and Green and Olynyk in a complicated deal that moves us into the #12 spot (Orlando), hoping to take the next available true Center in Nurkic, but he and Gordon go just ahead of us at #9 & 10.  So we reach with the pick and take Capela (who we probably could have gotten at #17 or even lower).
6) Somehow, our #17 pick gets exchanged through a few teams, ending up in the hands of Miami, who takes Shabazz Napier, who goes on to be the missing piece that causes the SuperFriends to re-unite in South Beach ...

The end result is we end up with no Rondo, no Green, no Olynyk, but instead have Smart, Randle & Capela who ends up being a 2 year draft-and-stash project in Europe.   Sully, realizing he's going to have to play Center again, gets depressed and shows up at training camp weighing 296 lbs.

Oh, and Bradley gets an offer sheet for 9M from some idiot GM and Danny, after the draft debacle, feels compelled to match and signs him to a huge overpay.   Bradley then hurts his ankle in a pickup game this summer.

Ugh.  I'm making myself depressed ...

Thankfully I can't imagine Danny being that incompetent.

Edit:  Had to send Carmelo to Cleveland since at the end I had the SuperFriends still in Miami.  :D
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.
