- Randle being asked for a 2nd workout shows to me the Celts are highly interested in this guy.  He is a handful to contain downlow and you rarely see a freshman having to be double/triple teamed. He would instantaneously provide inside presence on the offensive end

- Gordon's advanced defense, IQ + explosiveness would be some of the things we haven't had from a SF since Reggie Lewis.  Gordon doesn't have the offensive skills like Lewis but is more involved under the basket.  Quick 1st, 2nd jumps  and has a ridiculous 39" max veritical.

- Smart is a crazy player in a good way.  He is like a Dwade except not as high iq (shot selection, turnovers, understanding limitations) and as explosive.  If he can lower his mistakes through experience he will be a real good player in this league.  Also a good backup plan at the pg spot if Rondo decides to walk.

- Vonleh has the least "together" vs the three guys above. But also has one of the longest wingspans in the draft (and would be considered in the nba as a pf),  is rumored to 255 already, and has a an excellent work ethic. If he can put it together he will be a "load" to handle on both ends

At this point i think i will be happy if any of these guys are picked.  I know BS will do great with the development process.

I go with

1)Smart
2) Gordon
3) Vonleah
4) Randle

Smart is a consistent J away from being a multiple all-star

Gordon reminds me of a mix of Shawn Marion and Blake, but not as good .

Vonleah is maybe a better rebounding , less offensively gifted bosh

Randle =  A smaller , but more athletic Randolph

Smart, smart, smart. Exceptional at getting to the basket, extremely strong, and a great defender. Plays his heart out and would become a fan favorite.

100% agree with this ranking.  I reject the Blake comparison as their only similarities are great athleticism, poor shooting, fair complexion.

Vonleh doesn't look to have nearly the skill that Bosh has in really any area (not a knock-- Bosh is top 10 in the league IMO), but he's young so who knows.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
My order of preference:
Smart, Vonleh, Randle, Gordon.
Here's a good look at them from some NBA scouts: Looks at Exum, Vonleh and Gordon.

http://grantland.com/the-triangle/ryen-russillos-nba-draft-confidential-real-scouts-on-dante-exum-noah-vonleh-and-aaron-gordon/

*I think Randle might go 7th or 8th, but no farther than 9th.
*Vonleh is a tough one for me, I think he goes between 7th to 10th.
*Smart might go top 4 and beat out Exum to the Magic, but he's more likely going 5th or 6th with Utah or us.
*I think Gordon goes anywhere from 8-12 but is probably taken by the 76ers at #10. I think Noel and Gordon would be an excellent defensive core for them.

If Embid falls out of top 5 to us, then we take him. Same with Exum.
I think Danny's focus will be on offensive upside.

I think we gain another pick in this draft and take Clint Capella.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

if those 4 are the choices, I say trade, trade, trade and trade. If you can get anything significant and drop to 9,10 or 11 I say take the trade. There are some solid shooters in this draft that can spread the floor. I can see a shooter like Staukas at 11 and then one of the SF like Hood, Young, or Anderson at 17.
