Rich man's glen davis.  Dunno why people look at fat players and assume they'll get into shape like Kevin Love or Perk.   Most fat players remain fat players.

Because weight loss shouldn't be difficult with world-class trainers and nutritionalists.
Which is why players who gain weight over their first 2 seasons... probably aint getting slim anytime soon.  If they transform their bodies, it's probably happening pretty quick... not year 3.

  That's where spending a summer recovering from back surgery comes into play. You'd have expected him to do more conditioning last summer if not for that.

We could all also expect him to watch what he eats during his recovery so he doesn't come into camp pushing 300 pounds.

  Why don't you regale us with tales about exactly what he ate during his recovery?
I understand your point, but to answer:  probably similar to what the rest of us eat, unless he has a decent sized thyroid problem.  It's reasonable to assume Sullinger has the same will power when it comes to food as everyone else.  It's unreasonable to assume Sullinger is a freak like Ray Allen who can go 20 years without eating a cheeseburger.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Rondo significantly bulked up. Perk significantly changed his body. I think some guys just have the drive to transform their body.

We'll see come training camp, but I'm not holding my breath for Sully to change much. Maybe plus-minus 5 pounds?

This certainly doesn't help with his trade value.

Sully and Food go together like peanut butter and jelly. The makings of Eddie Curry part 2.0?
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;

Sully = Overrated

Most didn't expect much after drafting him and were surprised at the maturity of his game and ability to rebound.  But after an alright season, too many Celtics fans think he's the next KLove or even David West.  He's out of shape, overweight, and damaged.  He's a decent player, but not a future All-Star.

That analysis confuses me.  At first we didn't overrate him and then we did?  Who thinks he's the next KLove or DWest?  I haven't seen those posts.   I think most rate him as a better than average player with borderline all-star potential.  I don't think too many would be shocked if he winds up a good rotation player or ends up hampered by chronic back issues.

Hope that works for you because it was just a small portion of the articles and comments written.  As for the portion I wrote about many of us not expecting much out of him, most C's fans wanted Perry Jones III or Moutrie on draft night.  When we selected Sullinger many if not most thought he was an undersized, extremely unathletic (after combine), injury prone player who wouldn't amount to much.  He proved many of our original assumptions wrong but now we think to highly of him.  WE constantly overvalue our own talent.

Just like other teams overvalue theirs. No surprise.

Sure man, but first I'd love to hear you explain to us all again how Rondo is a top 3 point guard still.

Well Rondo is a top three guard when healthy, but it's irrelevant to the topic.  ;)

I was afraid of this from the beginning. Big Baby 2.0. Yes Sully might be more clever and have better hands; but this is depressing.

Just responding to a typically snarky comment with one of my own.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

This is why teams in trade talks don't view Sully as a great chip. Back problems and weight problems. Last year he was recovering from back surgery, this year he is out of shape right now because of an ankle? I'm sorry when your a professional athlete in your early 20's with trainers and chefs at your finger tips, while being paid millions to be in shape to perform, you SHOULD NOT BE FAT!

  Haha. I don't make a habit of discussing basketball with dietitians. I'll keep you in mind if I need any nutritional advice.

Sully needs to live with dad. Instead of sully doing the hitting, he will be receiving the hitting.

But I'm sure if you were getting paid millions and had a chance to make more you would give up cheeseburgers for good.
