Proposed deal would send two Mavs starters to Knicks -- Sam Dalembert and Jose Calder?n -- as well as prized young guard Shane Larkin

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
And here comes the tear down stage of the rebuild.  It'd be nice to see Chandler back with the Mavs again at least.

Tyson is an improvement over Sam, but Ray is a downgrade at PG compared to Calderon. Lateral move as of now for the Mavs.

I wonder how does this effect Dallas' cap? Will they still have enough money to bring in Deng?
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Hopefully he can stay healthy.

Felton is worse than Calderon, but Felton's contract is far less onerous. Paying Calderon 7+ million for three more years is killer.

what's dalmbert/calderon's contract situation?

Does this mean Melo is as good as gone?

They're shedding a ton of salary (Dalembert's salary is only partially guaranteed for $1.8 I think) and they're getting Shane Larkin back in the deal. I hope Dallas doesn't give up a pick unless it's a 2nd rounder.

Framework is Calderon, Dalembert, Larkin and Ellington for Chandler and Felton, sources confirm. ESPN first.

Their cap space depends on how big of a contract Dirk wants.  If he wants to get paid like Tim Duncan, the Mavs should have the space to make a reasonable offer.  They can still bring back Devin Harris and Vince Carter and they might still have high hopes for Gal Mekel and Ricky Ledo, so their guard rotation isn't completely blown.

Another proposed part of the Knicks-Mavericks deal, source tells Yahoo: Dallas would send 34th overall pick to New York.
