I've seen the one Simmons posted, I think I like the following better:
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=qgzqt5q (with Boston also getting the 8th pick in the 2014 draft)

Thoughts?

This needs to say "idea" in the subject or ppl will be misled.

Anyways I think this is more realistic. With us getting 8.

Thompson could probably be moved pretty easy. Reasonably priced. Can play C/PF. Spreads the floor. He's a solid backup big.

I dont think it makes sense for Detroit. The purpose of dealing Smith is to dump salary. They would be taking on Wallace's atrocious contract. So they lose a solid starter to get two vets with big money.

Something like this might make more sense http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=m9683s6. Boston would get the #8 too. Sacramento gets their stars, Detroit dumps salary (Bogans is non guaranteed, so he can get cut and his contract is off the books), Boston gets young players and a lottery pick. Sacramento might have to throw some future picks in to either team too.

This kind of creates a log jam at PF for the C's, so that may be an issue too.

Don't like this at all for the Celts.

In such a trade, we are basically throwing in the towel on the next 2-3 seasons.

We can fiddle with the pieces (and both the above suggestions do seem more realistic/beneficial than my original one), but I think there's the framework of a deal here. I tend to think that Josh Smith is a huge negative asset for the Pistons (he's overpaid, getting older, and fits their roster very poorly), and that they'd be willing to move him even for negative contracts in return.

For the Celtics, this is a prime opportunity not just to get a few nice assets in return for Rondo (SAC might be more motivated to do the deal if they think Rondo will re-sign if they also get his buddy Smith), but also to dump Wallace's contract. That would open up a ton of salary flexibility for the Celtics going forward and let them be big players in the 2015 free agent market.

(Although, to play devil's advocate, I guess they wouldn't necessarily need that flexibility if they were going full rebuild for the next few years, so dumpling Wallace may not necessarily be an imperative.)

2 or 3  seasons?   You're being generous try more like 4 or 5.  Boston has never ever been a top FA destination,  which means we would rely on the draft.  We would be a low lottery pick for the next 2 or 3 years.  Next year's draft class isn't as deep as this year.  Just a terrible move for us... People are in love with McLemore and I don't get it.  And don't tell me look at his last 5 games or some garbage like that.  5 games isn't a sample size some players had given up and some teams weren't playing thei rregular guys.  McLemore sucked last year.  Does he have ability?  Yes but not enough to me to set your franchise back several years.
