That's generally how I feel.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

I like the way it is now.

The Finals started June 5.  At most there could be 9 games in June (7 for the Finals, and game 7 of the ECF and WCF if it came to that).  At the max, that?s not a lot of basketball, especially when you consider this year when there were only 5 games in all of June. If anything I get bored when they rehash Game 1 and preview Game 2 for 3 straight days.  There's really only so many ways you can spin those same non-stories.  Did the Spurs rig the air conditioning?  Did Gatorade poison LeBron's Powerade?

And think about the years with terrible Finals.  Like Lakers vs Nets in '02 or Spurs vs Cavs in '07, the fans really need something else during those times.

Plus remember Summer League starts July 5th (for Orlando) and July 11th (for Vegas).  Now sure, you could push Summer League back a month or two, but it probably helps the young guys to get drafted, have a week or so to get settled, play in Summer League, then have the rest of the summer to work on whatever their teams told them to work on.

Also let's not forget the Olympics and World Championships every two years, which is typically around August.  (Plus potentially an Olympic qualifier in between).  While not an NBA event, it's definitely a major scouting event for the NBA.  Then September which really has nothing, and then you have training camps and pre-season in October.

I feel there's usually something basketball related going on around 11 months of the year, which I enjoy.  I like how the Finals flow right into the Draft which flows into Summer League and free agency.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class
