No way.

You'd have to put Celtics18 on suicide watch if this happened.

Or BballTim.  ;)

Sounds pretty similar to the Rondo to Sac deal which was supposedly bringing back the #8, McLemore, and Thomas.

If people were on board with that one, I think they would be on board with this as we should still be able to pick up Randle, Stauskas, or Payton.

I don't know, though - I love Rondo and it is Ainge's job to surround him with more talent. If he can't, however, then it seems pretty reasonable. I like Lawson and Faried.
Lawson is Lawson.  Faried is Faried.  You'll get what you get.  Meh.

I'd greatly prefer McLemore and #8.  You need to swing for home runs in this league.

We aren't getting McLemore and #8 for Rondo, though.  SO whatever.

I'd prefer Orlando's #4 and maybe one of their young wings.

Is this something that's actually been discussed or is this something that Goodman just threw out there for the hell of it?
Yes. this is something that he threw out there. Not likely to happen in my opinion, but is it even good value for Rondo?

I mean - Rondo would instantly be their BEST player - he'd have plenty of bigs to alley oop to but where's the bulk of the scoring coming from? Danilo? Wilson? A. Randolph?
That team would be good defensively, but would struggle to score.

Is McLememore or the number 8 pick in the draft a home run? I don't think either of those are expected to turn into superstars, so this makes no sense to me.

Not sure how we'd get Orlando's #4 and one of their young wings for Rondo....if that's what you are proposing, I'm not sure Orlando bites on that one.

Why would you throw KO into that trade? He is probably better than Faried.

This doesn't seem like a bad return for Rondo.

I would prefer this to landing the 8th pick and Ben McLemore.

What the hell do people see in McLemore? He's not good.

Not interested in the least. Not a fan of Faried, we don't need another PF. I don't want any more undersized guards, we have enough of them, not enough return for the trouble and I prefer Rondo to Lawson.

I'll say again: A team trading for Rondo must meet these 4 tests:
1. Rondo elevates the team to the next level, most likely a contender.
2. The team has expendable assets the Celts will accept.
3. Rondo would sign an extension with that team.
4. The salaries work.

This trade fails #1 & #3 for sure, and isn't so hot on #2.

A trade for Rondo will be very hard to make, and likely won't happen.

In terms of the deal itself I'm not a huge fan...unless there's something else in the wings right away that nets us a top 3 prospect or bigger star. I.e., like the Ray Allen trade.

I don't see the next move as acquiring a star. That makes no sense if we just traded Rondo.

Suppose we flip #17 and #6 - how high can we move up?

I'd think with the current turmoil we might be able to get #4 from Orlando.

Not saying we'd want to do the Rondo trade, but this would give us #4 (Embiid or Exum) and #11 (Stauskas, Nurkic etc.).

Could we package #11, #17 and #6 for a top 2 pick?

Just trying to see what else this might do for us. Taken on its own I don't like any trade where we give up the best player.

Rondo and Olynk to Denver for Ty Lawson, Faried and #11. Would you do it?

Lawson for Rondo, yes.
Olynyk for #11 and Faried, not sure.
I really like Olynyk.

You  replace Faried for Mozgov and we can talk.

I'd rather have Faried but would rather keep "Baby Dirk" then  for the light of any Denver bigs
