Since there is a possibility that we trade Rondo to Sac for #8, Mclemore, and other assets(picks), lets try to fill each other in on this Mclemore guy.

It looks like from the videos that he started to show out at the end of the season.

Not really much of a possibility, since they decided against making an offer for Rondo after they heard he didn't want to play there.

I think the reports say that they are open to trading for him even without a guarantee

Those are the reports from Sacramento about Love, not Rondo.

Right. thanks for clarifying, thats why I said "i think". If they are willing to do it for Love then it makes them more likely than not to doit for Rondo.

I think the Sacramento trade for Rondo is a decent one. But I'd still rather try to remain competitive.

Toyed with a trade on the TM I think DA would do if okc continues to the trend to take on lottery busts with no risk as reclamation projects.

This would take place after the draft when we can reacquire terry. Sac would also draft for us.

If we do end up with the 8th I hope Randle/smart fall there.

Needs to work on: Everything

Analysis: Back in the 2013 draft, Ben McLemore improbably fell into the Kings laps at #7 after months of speculation that he'd be gone in the top 5.  It was a victory for an organization and fanbase that wanted a super athletic deadeye shooter.

But expectations soon gave way to reality, and the reality was that the success McLemore had at the college level was not yet ready to translate to the NBA.  His shooting, excellent at Kansas, dipped dramatically in the NBA.  He looked relatively lost on the court even in summer league, showcasing an inability to dribble, create his own shot or defend.

It didn't get better after summer league either.

Quote
Ben McLemore's rookie season has definitely been a struggle, and in fact, historically bad. Of players who have played at least 1400 minutes, only 7 have had a PER of less than 8 and a True Shooting Percentage of less than .470 in their rookie season: Gene Wiley, Mike Farmer, Ben McLemore, Larry Demic, Junior Harrington, Austin Rivers and Adam Morrison. That's not good company to be with.

More:

Quote
"...the shot chart shows he's been pretty bad from most areas on the court, not just from three."

"...Right now he's not much use dribbling aside from straight line dribbling, and he gets in trouble when he's put under much pressure at all. "

"...Defensively, Ben's got a lot of potential thanks to his size and athleticism, and he puts in the effort, but there's no denying he was awful on this end last year."

I don't want him.

He's an outstanding prospect with beautiful shooting mechanics and insane athleticism.  He was just 20, though.  Makes sense for him to struggle. People who give up on 20 year old prospects are foolish.  Id love to have him here.

The last game he played, he had 31 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.   I think it's hilarious when people call 20 year olds "busts".  Maybe he will be... But we will not be able to say that confidently for at least a few more years.

He also has legit size for a SG... 6'5 and 200 pounds. Solid. Dude could just as easily end up a star.  I can't see the kings giving him up for a rondo rental tho.

If this trade happens, I sure do hope we get more than just the pick and mclemore. Isiah Thomas maybe. Or another future pick.

He could be 6'7 and 210 and 19. So what if he can't dribble, can't create his shot,
can't shoot, and can't defend. When you have as many holes as this kid has in his game, he's not an outstanding prospect. Check that list of the people in the article I linked who had the same historically bad stats as McLemore and find one who succeeded.

You say people who give up on 20 year old prospects are foolish. OTOH, I have seen people throwing good money after bad a lot more often than I've seen people finding gold in other people's trash.

Players are coming in to the NBA so much younger these days it is really tough.  I always think of Chauncy Billups and to some degree Joe Johnson.  I felt with both of these players, you could see enough of the talent but the Celtics (and in Billups case some other teams) moved on.  Other players, like Fab Melo, you just know right away he was a bust.  He just didn't have the reactions to keep up with the game.  Then there is Avery Bradley.  I believe with him, it you tried, you could see the talent but you could also see with him that he was emotionally too young for the NBA that first year.

I did not see many (if any) Sac games last year so I won't even pretend to know anything about McLemore but a bad season on a bad team alone is not reason to give up on him.  If you have watched a bunch of the games and formed that opinion, that would be valid but it would be risky in my opinion to read some online print and then immediately write him off.  (You certainly couldn't come away negative after watching the video clips where he never missed a shot).
