Ok, Flip, your move  ;D. Danny should punish him by changing the initial offer.  Deduct one pick or asset for being a stupid GM.

A straight swap for Andrew Bogut could be beneficial for both teams.

New York shaves a year's salary of their books. Gets a center in Bogut who due to his passing ability would be more comfortable and effective within the Triangle offense than Tyson Chandler would be. I'd say Bogut's contract demands have been problematic too. They clearly wanted to get something done a long while back but it never happened.

Golden State gets a big man with a bit more more speed and mobility to help improve their defense. I was going to say less on an injury risk too but that might not be true anymore. Tyson missed quite a bit of time last year and failed that medical a few years ago that predicted he'd have troubles (feet?) down the road. So who knows. Tyson might be just as injury prone as Bogut over next few years.

Edit: Nevermind. Bogut is free agent this summer. I thought Bogut had one year left on his deal and Tyson too but I misread that. Bogut is free agent and Tyson is on last year of deal. Would need to be a S+T so NYC wouldn't have those financial savings. Probably get Bogut on a cheaper per annum deal but I don't think a long term is a good idea for them unless they keep Melo and get Bogut on a really team-friendly contract ... and if it's that friendly, why would GSW let Bogut go?

So no, I think I was wrong. A straight swap Doesn't make enough sense.

Actually, Who, Bogut signed an extension. He's got 3 years left at around $12 million per season.

Okay I gotta stop using that Storytellers salary site. Not getting updated well enough anymore.

Well. both Bogut and Chandler have had their fair share of injuries the past couple of seasons. Maybe GS thinks if they have both of them then they will equal one healthy center.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
If they are trading Lee for Chandler's expiring, then I get it.

But if not, and they think Chandler will improve their chances, then this is stupid. This is a SAS idea that was stupid. Why give up Lee, a double double guy, an a legit scoring option for a player they really don't nees.

And they will say, oh Bogut always gets hurt. True, but Festus Ezeli is already healthy. If they are sheddin money, okay. But I don't get this trade.

Makes no sense, Bogut is one of the best defensive centers in the league...Tyson is a downgrade.

What team would put together a bunch of unhealthy centers hoping to get one healthy one?  ;)
