I don't think this will happen but if it did could this team compete for a title? While it would be tough to put together it is possible. Melo is going to opt out so we could sign him in fa. I don't think the fact that he played for New York affects the situation at all. We would have to free up space for the move. Wallace would have to go, I imagine a couple firsts will have to be attached. We could send bogans bass and the t/e to Houston for Asik and jones. This gives Houston the ability to use the t/e towards a big time player. We make the push for love by offering #6  Sullinger, green, clippers 2015, Boston 2015. This lets Minnesota still have a decent team green and Sullinger would be good fits for them and they add a possible all star talent at #6. Sign Bradley to his qo. We go into next year looking like

#17 warren?

Rondo-fa-Pressey
Bradley-Bayless?-?
Melo-Warren-Johnson
Love-Olynk-Jones
Asik-Olynk-Fav

So does this team compete for a title or not? I would think so. At least eastern conference finals.

Resounding YES.  Actually this is what I'm so hoping to end up with.

I actually might prefer picking Hairston at 17. Then sign paul pierce.

I think a bench consisting of Paul pierce, Hairston, Olynk, and warren would be pretty nasty.

This team could contend, but I have yet seen a realistic scenario of getting both Love and Melo.

Not sure we could get Jones but I would re-sign Humphries.  I think he would be a great fit backing up Love.  KO would back up mostly Asik. Then I wouldn't mind having Fav as the 5th big, and Iverson as the project big man.

No. See how the Spurs won? Ball movement. Melo and AB have glue on their hands when they get the ball.

Melo has like 3.8 APG career averages.. Melo isn't a bad passer... Hes actually a great passer outside of the post ups... He just had bad teammates who couldn't finish half of them.

Bradley, I completely agree with.

I don't think so. Melo is not a winner at all. I would much prefer for us to draft T.J Warren and plug him in as a starter.

Not in our first year. Melo the ballhogger. AB still gotta improve on his offense. Love should up his defensive game too.

But I can't wait to see a BOS-MIA rematch...I want our revenge already.

Did this on an other thread....

Okay say we get Love. And it's the reported KO, 6th,17th, and future, yeah we get lucky.

Now since Rondo said something about Melo, I was wondering how that would play out. Detroit is considering making an offer to Monroe, and are not to happy with Smith. NY is going to loose Melo for nothing, and will have to start thinking rebuild, which is draft picks and cap space.

Boston out-Green, Bogans, Bass
Boston In- Melo

Detroit Out- Smith
Detroit In-Green, Bogans

NY Out - Melo
NY In- Smith, Bass

Detroit gets out of Smith contract, gets the SF they could use and a good out side shooter that frees up Monroe and Drummond. With Drummond,Monro,Jenkins, Green doesn't have to worry about being "THE" guy. Plus his contract is more friendly than Smiths, and Bogans contract gives Detroit room to give Monroe his money and still have some later for Drummond.

NY gets something for Melo. A cheaper contract, and an other 6 million off the books next summer to go along with the other 46 mill when Chandler/Soudemire/Bargnani's contracts are all up. 50 open in 2015 would help NY out a lot.

Boston, well they get Melo, even though he isn't ideal. Rondo wants to play with him, He want's to play with Rondo, and it's one of the better options for a win now.

Of course a couple picks are probably going to get used in this. And maybe some other players. But there should still be plenty to work with to bring in an other player. And heck, Sully is still on the team unless NY or Det wants him in the deal, but that could help land a defensive C or a nice SG to round the team out.

The problem with trading with Houston is that they are in the Melo sweepstakes, too. If we let them free up cap space, they will offer Melo the max, and why would Melo come here instead of there? He may like Rondo, but lets be honest: Dwight & Beard >>> Rondo & Green.

I agree with you that this probably won't happen, but assuming it somehow does...No.  this team does not compete for the finals.  I'm just looking at matchups against the top three seeds from this years EC playoffs.

Defensively:
  • no one to cover Hibbert/West (Asik isn't big enough)
  • no one to cover LeBron (Melo can't, and Bradley's too small)
  • no one to cover Derozan(see above)
  • no defense coming off the bench

Offensively:
  • Miami and Indy have an answer for Melo
  • Miami and Indy have an answer for Love
  • not enough speed on the break

This team is better than what the Celtics put on the floor last year, but they still have second round exit written all over them.  There is no backup for Melo except for a rookie.

Wait, is that Terrence Jones you stole from the Rockets along with Asik?  And you have him playing BEHIND Olynyk?  Really?  You do realize he started 71 games for Houston this year, right?

Ok, in this highly unlikely scenario, you do have defense coming off the bench in the frontcourt.  if you can spin Olynyk into a quality backcourt bench player with size, then you might have something.     If you assume that a leader will emerge and that the others will follow him.  Rondo seems likely a candidate only because he's won in the NBA and worked with veterans who know how to do things the right way.  But....
Good food, like good music and good love, always requires a little sweat in the making in order for it to be truly memorable.

Yeah but you can't get both Melo & Love. the only way to get Melo is a s&t and the price for kl is [dang] too high.
