Love is in no position to force the team to trade him anywhere. Minn. shouldn't oblige him either and they don't have to, they have to do what's best for their organization.

I think Minn. has decided our offer was the best from the start and everything else has been posturing on both sides and Minn. just trying to get more.

I just find it funny that every new rumor that comes out is "better than boston's". why even say that? why even mention boston?

on our side why did we recently say "if the deal doesn't happen, we already have a deal in place to trade green"? why even say that? it sounds more like jeff green is part of a deal with Minn. to me or they want him included.

Love is in a great position to force a trade to Boston, just like Melo did to NY . If all the other teams know he is not going to opt in next year, or sign a long term contract, they are not going to offer their best package . That means the C's could offer a very solid package that would still be fair to Minny, but also gets Love where he wants to be .

Who knows maybe Boston isn't 1st on his list, I am just saying if he really wants to play here with Rondo and a team that can keep adding to the core , he has all the power .

Also why would he want to go out West ? If he really wants to have a shot in the Playoffs , the east is there for the taking in the next few years .

- Is a GSW core of Curry, Barnes,Love . Bogut  really a title contender? They wouldn't have any assets left to trade to add to it either.
- Houston doesn't have the chips to get him
- LA has nothing but an old Kobe

C's could have core of Rondo, Love, Asik/gortat , Melo

Whether teams have the chips or not to get him is irrelevant. Love's priority isn't what the Wolves get. That's the Wolves' job. Love's priority is (and should be) himself. After all, the topic at hand is Love forcing a trade somewhere.

Boston is an attractive destination, yes. But my point is, it's not the only attractive destination for Love. GSW's starting 5 of Curry/Martin/Iguodala/Love/Bogut can absolutely make noise. They downgrade their SG position (but retain the shooting) and upgrade their PF position. It's not unreasonable that the team will win another 50 games.

A lot of people bring up the argument of "I'd rather have Love because he's a proven commodity". Well, the same could be applied here. All Boston is right now is potential, after all. If we can get Asik. If we can grab Melo. Otherwise, it's Minny all over again with a better Rubio but no center to speak of. That said, I can see why he could prefer a team that made the playoffs last year rather than a team that has potential to piece together a team on paper if all the right pieces fall at the right time.

Again, not saying Boston isn't an attractive landing spot for him. But I can understand why he wouldn't "force his way to Boston" as the topic suggests. He potentially could. But he won't. There are other attractive landing spots for him.

I agree I think Love will assess his options although I think he'll be very happy if he lands Boston.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
He's a California guy, his uncle is a beach boy, and he's a laker fan, so forcing his way here I'm sure is not at the top of his list. Let's be happy that he is even seriously considering Boston.

Love is a Cali guy, but is he a Lakers fan?  The quote from the article below suggests otherwise.

Quote
And of his youth, Love once told Sports Illustrated in an interview, ?My dad likes to say when other kids were watching Big Bird, I was watching Larry Bird, and he was totally right.?

Fairweather, a former ESPN producer and radio co-host, found Love to be so interested in Celtics history that he gave him a 90-minute DVD that details the team?s illustrious past, a gift Fairweather said Love very much appreciated.

Love showed such reverence for Bird, Fairweather said, that at one point Love pointed out how he believes that Bird?s No. 33 ought to be retired by every team in the NBA. Love also said he planned on talking to fellow UCLA alumnus Bill Walton about what it was like playing for the Celtics.

From the published material, I got the same vibe. I don't think Love is a guy who pines for the lakers above other teams, I think he'd be okay if that was the decision that makes sense, happy even, but I don't think he's gonna jump through hoops to get there.

I agree, I never said he's pining for the lakers or wouldn't go elsewhere. My main point is that boston is not his only attractive option, so there is no reason for him to force a trade here. He would be happy in california playing for GS, or even in chicago playing for Thibs with Rose and Noah in the weak East.

I think the GSW look at this trade as being kind of sideways with Love and Thompson. Minny wants a little more so GSW says no, but you can't blame Minny for wanting Barnes also.

I'm in this camp. Teams have come out and said they'd still trade for Love in hopes that over a year they could convince him to stay. Now is it crazy to think that teams would trade a package without the extension? Sure is. But I also see teams willing to go down that route in which case Minny makes out the best, Love plays a year and then bolts. Melo may have forced his way to NY but look at what happened to Dwight Howard. I could see the same thing happen with Love as Howard.

All in all I think he becomes a Celtic on draft night.
