At present, however, what the Celtics have to offer isn?t getting it done. According to a source, the first-round picks they own from the Nets are not seen as being of overwhelming value, and, where the Celts had an Al Jefferson to offer Minnesota for Kevin Garnett six years ago, neither Jared Sullinger nor Kelly Olynyk rises to that level in the Wolves' eyes this time around.

As for the Celtics' No. 6 overall pick, one NBA source has been told directly that Minnesota believes it can get a player of equal quality later in the first round. The Timberwolves hold the 13th pick, but multiple offers would allow them to select higher.

They can't say that truthfully cause it's a load of crap. You're not going to find someone of equal quality with the 13th compared to the 6th. Especially Minny, given their track record.

This stinks if we cant land love.

I think theres a chance we trade for a top 3 pick.

Still hoping we land love some how

Who says we can't land Love? 1 report out of 4 a week before the draft? There's a lot of posturing and negotiating going on right now, so don't buy any of these reports either way.

If Woj is saying "likely GS"...I'm leaning likely GS.

Yeah and on an other thread GSW also are offering Lee and Barnes to NY for Chandler. Not sure how GSW will get Love then.  But that could be a bunch of BS since they already have Bogut. Unless him and Thompson are part of the Love trade.

I think right now we are just seeing a bunch of smoke screens. Next week can't come soon enough!

at this point, with all the conflicting reports...I think its safe to say that alot of smoke screens etc. are being thrown out there to try and get a team to offer more than perhaps they want to..

honestly I wont trust anything until Draft night...because tomorrow we'll probably hear the Celtics are front runners followed by how they arent even an option followed by another pro celtics report ::)

if minny trades with GS then they're fools, they'll be the new denver nuggets. that roster has no chance at a title IMO, they'd still have no anchor superstar, and no elite defenders.
as for GS, hard to say whether they're better or worse - but as-is, they don't look like contenders, so i can see why they'd want to shake things up.

Denver's offer according to Bullpett

RT @SteveBHoop: Sources: in addition to Wilson Chandler and Kenneth Faried, Denver offering Minnesota a player they would acquire (Arron Afflalo) for Love.

Minny must really want to stay mediocre if these are the kind of trades they are looking for.....

I thought Woj meant that Love was a favorite to resign in Golden State, if he landed there.

Denver's offer is a joke.

Sullinger > Faried. On top of that they are getting a high lotto pick, plus maybe two additional firsts. To go with Bogan's un-guaranteed contract.

What are they giving up to get Afflalo?

They want to build around Aaron Afflalo? Didn't he state he wants to be on a contender or team that can win now at this stage of his career? Rofl wolves are a joke

the latest from Ford on the front page states that the WOlves are merely playing games right now with all the trade rumors to field what the best offer out there is. telling some teams (who dont have picks) they want to win now and get established players, and teams with alot of picks that they are looking to rebuild.

says he still thinks the Celtics will end up having the best offer.

This makes alot of sense to me. The wolves arent going to show their hand until right before the draft. whether it be next wednesday or thursday

Waiting can also backfire for the Wolves. What if the nuggets or whoever backs out?

It could, but it seems they are in the area of just fielding offers right now, seeing who has the best to offer. Most teams arent probably going to throw out their best offer until right before draft.

he isnt getting equal value for Love, because teams know Love is going to walk at the end of next season anyway and be a free agent. This is his best chance to try and fleece a team

Whats making this hard as well is they are trying to set the market value for Love.  This is a very good question,  what is his value?  How many firsts from the C's are below, at or above what he is worth?  Based on this board, 4 1sts may be the sweet spot or a bit too much.

I personally do not think Minny is up for another bunch of picks.  They may be keeping our offer on the table simply as a ploy to increase Love's value to teams with actual players that can come in and compete now.  I didnt want to believe this at first but Im in the camp with those that think Denver's offer and GSW's offer to a lesser degree are superior to a bunch of unknown (albeit cheaper) picks.
