If Golden State did offer Thompson, Barnes and Lee for Love and Martin, that's not a bad deal...If they throw in a future 1st, it's really tough to beat.

Minny's New Lineup: Rubio, Thompson, Barnes, Lee and Pek (plus they get rid of Martin's deal and maybe grab a 1st)

If Minny took Boston's reported offer, then their lineup would look like: Rubio, James Young (17), Gordon (6), Sully & Pek...

I'm taking the GS deal b/c nothing is guaranteed when you're talking about future 1st round picks...

So, so players? I'm confused, that's what Jimmy Butler, Taj Gibson, Clay Thompson and David Lee are. You are just pushing dust from one side of the room to the other with that swap. No potential to get a star. Those aren't better offers.

Klay has All Star potential for years to come so I'm high on him, but otherwise I have to agree with you.  I don't see how number 6 this year and Sully don't hold more potential and value than those other players?  And then the rest of the picks we can offer.

It's been a no brainer to me but we hear this talk either way.  Personally I think we do have the best package, Minny is just trying to get more from someone.

And that lineup makes them the exact same team as they were with Love in the Western Conference. More importantly with very little development potential from those players. We know what they are. Clay may be worse in Minn because there is not the same fear of Rubio as there was with Curry.

It really depends on what the wolves want?  Vets or youth movement or a combo of the two,.   Until we know the source then we don't know if it was an attempt by the Wolves to ratchet up the price or some journalist making up a story which happens a lot nowadays.   But we will know in one week from tomorrow I would guess.

Who says we can't land Love? 1 report out of 4 a week before the draft? There's a lot of posturing and negotiating going on right now, so don't buy any of these reports either way.

I disagree...I think with that starting five, along with the #13 pick, Brewer, Barea and an addition or two in FA, they're much deeper. I believe Thompson is much better than people are giving him credit for...Without Curry, the handcuffs will be off and he'll be a legit scorer.

If Woj is saying "likely GS"...I'm leaning likely GS.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
GSW would surely have to give up Klay Thompson to get Love.
They could sign Lance stephenson or trade for Afflalo if they want a nice SG to replace Klay.
I think a team of
Curry
Afflalo (perhaps)
Iggy
Love
Bogut

is pretty solid on both ends. Problem is Bogut's health.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I just feel like Saunders is letting his emotions come into play and won't be able to sell to his fan base that another star of theirs was trade to boston

And still not a playoff team in the Western Conference. If Barnes doesn't develop quickly then Clay will draw the best wing defender every night and may not be that legit scorer. That starting five and deep bench will be nothing but a recipe for NBA purgatory.

Not saying we cant land love. Just saying this would stink after everything we have read, tweets, him visiting Boston, love hanging out with patriots players.

I still believe were are players for love. Just getting scared if wojo is chiming in saying GS is favs to land him

At present, however, what the Celtics have to offer isn?t getting it done. According to a source, the first-round picks they own from the Nets are not seen as being of overwhelming value, and, where the Celts had an Al Jefferson to offer Minnesota for Kevin Garnett six years ago, neither Jared Sullinger nor Kelly Olynyk rises to that level in the Wolves' eyes this time around.

As for the Celtics' No. 6 overall pick, one NBA source has been told directly that Minnesota believes it can get a player of equal quality later in the first round. The Timberwolves hold the 13th pick, but multiple offers would allow them to select higher.

All Woj has said about Golden State is that they have to include Thompson in the deal to make it happen.  And seems like they don't want to.

He hasn't said anything else.
