Not that I like Lowry, but it looks like the cHeat may get a HUGE upgrade at the PG position with an addition of Lowry. I'm happy that Lowry is a pass first guard, but just the fact that he's hoping to sign with Miami really sucks! He's good enough to keep defenses honest and can hit the outside shot and is good in transition. Although DWade isn't 100% of his 2006 self, a Lowry and Wade backcourt with Bron, Bosh, and Rebounder at 5, that's at least good enough to get out of the Eastern Conference.

if they retain the big 3 - trade Chalmers and add Lowry, that is a HUGE upgrade

Lowry isn't really a pass first point guard.

More of an attacking PG. He's not a chucker, but his instinct is to drive and attack and create free throws or an assist if help is there in time off of that penetration. A bit different style when I think a "pass first' guy.

LeBron's the Heat's point guard. Chalmers brings the ball up sometimes but spends much of his time as a spot up shooter. Is Lowry much better at that?

I think he'd be a significant upgrade for them, particularly with Wade's health up in the air and him likely missing games next season with his maintenance plan. Lowry would give them another guy that can create his own shot and take pressure off of Lebron. He's a decent enough shooter from 3. His biggest impact would probably be on the defensive end. I don't know if Miami will be able to sure up their interior defense, so adding a PG that can really get after opposing guards would probably be their next best option.

Don't know if it will come to pass, but Lowry to Heat would be a great move for the team.

Yeah but what's the contract? Lowery's gonna want good $$$$$, they cant afford him as of right now.

Yeah I don't think that Miami can be competitive in their offer unless LeBron or the others take a huge pay cut. Lowry has never had a big deal and this is when he cashes in. Though, I do think there is trepidation amongst GMs about how Lowry will perform once he gets paid, which might eliminate a few suitors. I'd actually be pretty happy if they blow all their available money on Lowry.

I think adding another threat offensively at PG would be huge for the Heat. Make them less entirely reliant on LeBron for everything. I don't think teams would be able to help of Lowry as easily as they do Chalmers.

Not really.

He's definitely reckless and can get tunnel vision when he's attacking. But he's also willing to give the ball up overall to other players whether its after he's drawn in the defense on the pick and roll or just to move the ball.

not at all. but when the heat already have 3 all stars and are all but saying they need more...kinda  makes those all stars already on the team look pretty weak.

I just vaguely remember watching them in the playoffs this yr. and he seemed to have better games when he dominated the ball & all but disappeared when he didn't.

This doesn't even seem remotely realistic. I get that he will cost less than Carmelo, but the people saying that every all-star (or near all-star) in the NBA is going to go play in Miami just don't understand how the salary cap works. Will the MLE be enough for Lowry? I highly doubt it - especially when a team comes knocking with a 10+ mill offer.
