34 years old, lost a step or two, one last chance at a big payday.  Then again, I didn't see
him leaving for Qatar for this coming season, either... :)

That's a news. He is still brilliant, rarely misses a pass, directs the offence perfectly.

8m is a bargain, I think. I guess he just needed a break.
"We do so many defensive drills in practice, I come home and I'm putting the press on my woman, denying her the ball.
Y'all are laughing, but it's sad. I go home and deny the wing."

i can`t say it`s a bargain.... his contracts so far have been less than that.
I can`t blame him for wanting ~24m in 3 seasons with much easier competition but i don`t like it. When you are a player of Xavi`s caliber , or Henry`s or Raul`s or DelPierro`s you don`t go and play in Qatar .....

There were rumours about Xavi leaving Barca for the last two weeks. Apparently, the new manager, Luis Enrique, didn't want to keep Xavi. It sounds like Koke is going to be Barca's replacement for Xavi with Rakitic coming in to replace Cesc Fabregas.

Yeah, I think it's a waste too.

Xavi is still a very effective player. With his style of play, he could play another 4-6 years in a top league at Europe. With the right manager, he could even stay at a top club for most of that time before needing to step down to a mid-table team.

Premature retirement.

Barca is steadily going down.  That's good news for my Real Madrid!

Viva Los Merengues!!

Its a quick rebuild.  They get Koke, a nice young centre back to start with Pique, and move  Mascherano back to midfield and they are back in business.
