I've had a great career, I'm content with what I've done," Allen said. "It's hard to think past this moment. In the next couple of days I'll think about it and see where my true heart lies.

One thing is for certain, to [make retirement decision] on my terms is the most important thing," Allen said. "Whether that is me retiring, staying here or going somewhere else it will be on my terms. I've made it to this point and I felt great that I have the choice to make it for myself.

I didn't expect him to retire before KG, honestly. Considering the nature of his game.

Judas' words can't stand the truth test. He'll bolt to the a contender next season (Clippers?).

i suspect the bridge between doc and ray as been burned by now. judas just needs to retire his defense was horrific this postseason, especially against the spurs. a few open 3's doesn't justify his being on a team that good.

Rivers wouldn't allow that... Allen's best destination will be Knicks and Rockets.. these team rely heavily on 3pt shooters

Don't be surprised if this season proves to be KG's last.

The last time he chose to come back, even with two less years of age, a no trade clause and ~$12M/3 contract, and coming off a very effective season (and an All-Star appearance), it still seemingly took a hell of a lot of thought before he finally decided to return.  At the time he said that he would only stick around and continue to play as long as he feels like he can still contribute something significant to a team.

Now he's just gone through a season having recorded career lows in minutes, points, rebounds and FG% and had to work through a significant period of injury.  As sad as it is to say, I get the feeling he won't be coming back next season.

The day KG retires will be truly saddening for me.  He is one of the last of a handful of old-school 'warriors' still playing in this league (along with Pierce, Kobe, Wade, etc) and it's already hard imagining the NBA without his trademark intensity.

He is was pretty much held in check last night.   All I saw he contribute was a few turnovers.

Wade is about as effective as KG was for Nets this year.

I think ray could play for a few more yrs. he was asked to do way too much during this series. hell, they even started him last night. 15 - 20 mins. a game and he'll about as effective as you could hope for. he's not a 6th man candidate by any stretch but a notch below that imo.

but I could see him retiring. he seems like the type of guy that doesn't want injury to be the reason why he can't play any more. unlike Pierce, who I've said since day 1 of hearing about how much ball he plays sadly is going to have to be dragged off the court.

If Ray ever wanted to come back to the Celts, I would take him.
