Good idea but think KMart is better overall option.  Here is comparison:

Gordon is 6'4", 25 yrs old, avg. 15.4 ppg last season & 17.5 avg for career.  36.8% 3 pt&80% FT
Kmart is 6'7", 31 yrs old., avg 19.1 ppg last season & 17.9 career, 38.5% 3 pt. & 87% FT

So, KMart is slightly better statistically but 6 years older.  He has 3 yrs left on contract and Gordon has 2 yrs. Gordon is more injury prone.  For the remainder of contract prefer KMart especially if package with KLove since might help get deal done and they have familiarity.

But the biggest reason is value.  KMart's contract is only $6.5m while Gordon is $14m.! We can likely get KMart for S&T with Bradley who plays same position. I think we can use our trade assets to offload Wallace.

Rondo, KMart, Green, Love, Asik

Thank you for providing the stats of both players. I agree that Martin is a bargain given his production. A three guard line-up of Rondo, Martin, and Bradley would actually be pretty great (and well-rounded). The thought of Gordon is pretty tempting, but maybe a lot of us (me included) are still stuck on his potential and hopes of a healthy career.

As for Wallace's contract, we could easily just send out the #17 along with Wallace to get rid of him - if that's what we really wanted to do. Of course all of this depends on acquiring Love and the ease of taking on Martin.

If we want a slightly undersized sg who is hurt a lot just sign Bradley to a lot smaller deal and keep the 17th pick. Bradley is a better defender anyway and younger.

I really don't think we could easily send out #17 to get rid of Wallace.  Fairly sure it would cost two, or at least the Philly protected pick in addition.

Id rather just keep Bradley. Both have injury issues and I've never been a huge fan of Gordon....hes the evil mr glass from unbreakable, he probably owns a comic book store and everything.

Eh, maybe last year when he had three years (and even then, we basically only got the one pick from NJ for him), but he will be an expiring after this year and it's only $10 million. The 17 pick in this draft is a very good asset. I honestly see it is an overpay, but if we simply just wanted to dump him, I can't imagine it would take more than the 17.

Sorry, simply not happening.  We got the Philly pick for essentially one year of Joel Anthony's $3.8 million.  Utah got two firsts and two second for about $22 million in expiring contracts.  It will cost a first to move Gerald Wallace as an expiring contract.  It's two firsts to tie up that much salary for two years, or at least this first and a protected first.  If #17 could move Gerald, I think he'd already be gone.

Can Eric Gordon play the point?

I'd be interested in looking at him as a possible combo guard off the bench behind Rondo and Bradley who can provide some scoring, but I don't know if he would accept that role.  I don't think #17 is a good price for getting rid of Wallace and getting an upgrade on Bayless.

Not sure about EGor, but Tyreke Evans would be a nice complement to Bradley in the backcourt.

I'd much rather have Evans than Gordon. Our guard shooting would be pretty bad with him and Rondo, but with Green and if they land love that helps spread the floor pretty well for both guards to work. Just need to land a defensive center.

Maybe we can throw the TE at Huston, send Asik to Washington and have them S&T Gortat to us.

I remember Ainge really liking Evans in the past.

I would also love Tyreke Evans as a third guard. He's not a great floor general but he is a creative passer and can run the pick and roll very well for a larger guard, plus he's large enough at the 2 to let Bradley guard the other team's point full time.

I know he met with us, or was scheduled to, when he was looking at teams before signing with NO. And he's the best around for the kind of players Ainge loves to snag at the guard spot.

If we could get him for Wallace + 17, I might cry.

I'd love to but the only way to get rid of him is to trade him with Rondo to a team like Sac. Sorry

I have been suggesting this trade in connection with other moves for a couple of months now.  It doesn't make sense though unless there are other moves.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I guess we can agree to disagree.

We took on essentially two years of Anthony at 4 million for 2nd round pick(s) and the Utah deal gets brought up over and over again as an example because it was such an overpay - not the going rate (also GS was desperate to shed salary so they could sign Iggy).

The #17 should easily net us an expiring and would probably even net us non-guaranteed contracts.
