NBA player agents believe that Boston is interested in acquiring a second-round draft pick for the 2014 draft, according to the Boston Globe's Gary Washburn.

Maybe were interested in the 2nd round because we will have no 1st round picks this year, when we trade for love.  Or ainge could just like certain players going in the 2nd round

Draft day needs to hurry up

PHI has 5 2nds plus 2 firsts. 3 rookies are about the limit any coach will want to deal with.

Not going to happen. Nor will that trade of 5 2nds for a lottery pick someone mentioned.

I doubt that. A couple teams have a few 2nd rounders. There's only so many rookies and stashed Euros one can draft.

Teams will trade second rounders for money or future second round picks. Happens every year. The group of second rounders this year is only marginally better than most drafts if it is at all.

I gotta agree that the only way Danny could be realistically looking for a second rounder is if he already has moved either one or both of his first rounders. Having three rookies as well as three to four second year players and a third year player is not something any team wants on their team unless they want to lose a lot for a high pick in 2015.

Not ruling that out completely but I am not sure ownership is going to take yet another step backward. They have to be wanting to move forward after this awful last year. Two years of tank talk and ping pong ball hope in a competitive Boston sports market, can not be good for the Celtics when it comes to the ticket buying fanbase.

Gotta keep those people happy too, after all.

Hey, it's hard to turn things around in the NBA just one year after you trade away your two franchise stars. People will be unhappy but I don't think there will be riots if they miss the playoffs again. What they need to see is that Sullinger, Olynyk, and 2014 draft player A-B-C are not busts and continue to show improvement.

Maybe this is a sign that the deal for Love is already in place

Maybe confirmation bias on my part but I feel like this signals that the first round picks have been dealt, and the 2nd rnd picks offer a cheap way to bring in some guys whose ceilings may be low, but can be rotation players immediately for cheap. Guys like McGary, Markel Brown, Cory Jefferson; maybe no team particularly covets them but they all have a decent chance to be solid pros.

To play devil's advocate, it may just mean that Ainge has already decided that he's not bringing back Hump, Bogans, Bayless, Vitor, Johnson or Babb and would rather draft young rather than grab vets off the scrap heap.

I'm glad someone mentioned Jefferson.  I'm a Baylor alum so I've seen probably 75% of Baylor's games the last several years.  Jefferson outplayed Embiid in their matchups this year.  He is listed as Baylor's F while Austin was the C but their roles were really the opposite.  Austin floated to the outside while Jefferson covered the other teams best inside guy when they weren't in a zone, which wasn't all that often.

Jefferson seems a bit stiff, can't dribble, but had a pretty good mid range game and is a strong post defender.

Ainge used the money he saved from Pierce and KG's contracts to pay people to fill up the arena ;D

James McAdoo - don't sleep on this kid :)

Not spectacular...but can do a LOT of things very well. Smart kid.

I'd love for BOS to grab this kid in 2nd round.
