For the last few drafts there always seems to be chatter around the Celtics but the sense as well that not much will really happen. In the end, the C's stand pat and make a pick, buy a late second rounder and get on with it, so to speak. Yes, they traded up a bit last year but by and large since 2007 Boston has not done much during draft time.

This year it feels different. Some how there is almost less talk about the Celtics. I think the Love talk is just smoke. The owner of the Wolves will not deal him here after KG and in my heart of hearts, I believe that Love has better options in the "Win Now" department. Even with Love not coming here I think there will be a "they did what?" moment with Boston this time. The roster does not seem to be to Stevens' liking and we have so many duplicate parts along with tradeable pieces.

Is this me spending too much time on this or does anyone else share this opinion. I have no suggestion as to what the deal may be but I really get the feeling that Boston will make a deal. Just one that no one saw coming. Like the Green-Perk craziness.

it's you.  ;)
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

everything is up in the air. I believe wyc when he said "there will be fireworks". I think the future of this team gets laid out on draft day. if we don't get Love I am pretty sure we're going to trade rondo on draft day and just look to the future.

with that said, I think Love coming here is all but done.

I have learned not to get my hopes up because it takes two general managers to make and agree on a trade and sometimes it takes more than that. Danny is always willing to make a big trade but it has to be the right one. I still think Love is a real possibility but if that fails I am content for us to take someone at 6 and 17 and see if any trades are made after the draft. I am a big Gordan fan and if we can't get Love I would be excited to have him in Green. I think Ainge will make a pretty big trade this summer, maybe even 2, but they might not be made until July or August. Anyway, draft night and all the rumors will be fun and if Danny makes a big trade on draft night that will be great but it may not happen until later on in the summer.

I'm not saying it's defiantly going to happen, but when there is smoke there is fire.

Also most trades come when the rumors aren't solid. Teams don't want this stuff getting out before it's all done, incase they loose some leverage.

Even if it isn't Love, I could see DA moving around the draft, picking up a draft pick or two, and even trade Rondo for some more assets.

I still just dont see a Rondo trade happening. We already have too many assets, why trade an all star championship point guard to get more assets? There's only so much you can hold. Danny is definitely going to pull the trigger and use those multiple assets to net a couple players to put around Rondo.

I definitely feel Love and Asik coming... My dark horse third transaction is Afflalo... and the final pipe dream piece to the puzzle is adding Melo through a S+T while signing Pierce to the MLE.

yeah on my part it's not about getting my hopes up. because, while I like Love and do want him I am concerned we might give up too much for him. and it's not that i'm coveting our assets because of the young potential we'd be giving up in those assets or even the young guys already on the team.

I don't want to give up too much because if the Love deal does happen we still need to add a lot more. I think adding Love needs to be a prelude to an even bigger deal. and that might not happen if we give up too much like some of the proposed and rumored offers I've seen.

with that said I like where we're at. we're flexible enough with our assets that we can do just about anything. as much as i'd like Love I won't be upset if it doesn't happen. I just have complete faith Ainge is going to do the right thing.

as far as me thinking the Love deal is already done goes. it just seems I've seen this movie before and know how it ends. nothing about getting my hopes up.

I tend to get over-hyped about the draft when the Celtics have a top pick to make.  I nearly threw my shoe at the TV when Andy Katz broke the story that the Celtics were trading the 6th pick (could have gotten Brandon Roy or Rudy Gay) for Sebastian Telfair.  I cursed Ainge for such an awful trade.  How could he do that??  Of course, we did get Ratliff's contract which expired a year earlier than LaFrentz, which turned out to be critical in making the KG trade work the following year.  And Danny snapped up Rondo at 21 (or was it 22) in that same draft, which turned out to be brilliant.  So what do I know??

Danny acquiring Rondo really saved his behind. Trading the 6th pick just to shave off a year of Raef's contract was a pretty horrible move (I believe the trade to acquire Raef was his worst move as a gm, but I won't go there).  Imagine if we traded this year's #6 and Gerald Wallace for an expiring and say, Shabazz Muhammad, because that is essentially what he did back then.

I understand that Ratliff's expiring helped acquire KG, but that doesn't make the initial trade acceptable - snatching up Rondo did, however.

Just gotta wait until draft night.

Either we select Aaron Gordon, package for Love, trade Rondo, or remain mediocrity by doing nothing and tank another few years.

What DA can do depends on what other teams agree to play ball with him.

we have too many assets to stand pat. The only way I see us tanking again next year is if DA simply can't get a move done, and I would be shocked if that was the case.

I think "Plan A" so to speak is to get Kevin Love in a trade.  I think we have a reasonably good chance at that.  Plan B, may be to take a run at Carmelo, whether we get KL or not.  I don't think it is very likely we get CA in either case.

If we get Kevin Love, then follow up deals for good complementary players such as Asik or Eric Gordon or Kevin Martin or ...... would likely be in play.

If we don't get Kevin Love or Carmelo, I think it is likely that Rondo gets traded and we go full rebuild and we would not bother pursuing any of the complementary players mentioned above.

If Danny asked me, I would tell him I support this strategy fully.
