Having one of the best passers in the game is a positive for creating a team based on ball movement, not the other way around.

I think some of you guys have got it fairly twisted.
I think the point is that since Rondo can't shoot, he wouldn't be a factor in the Spurs offense.

His outside shooting is fairly comparable to Tony Parker's.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Parker's an average overall 3 point shooter and is above average (40%) from the corners. I understand Parker doesn't take many 3s, but his mid-range shooting alone is much better than Rondo's. I don't think they're that comparable.

Except for this:

According to BasketballReference, Rondo's career field goal percentage from 16 to 23 feet is .416.  Parker's is .408.

Also, while he's better than Rondo, Parker is far from being an average three point shooter for his career.

Rondo shoots considerably less contested jump shots than Parker. Heck, he shoots less shots than Parker in general. Excluding the last two seasons, since Rondo didn't fully play, Rondo's taken a total of 1089 mid-range shots via NBA.com/stats. In that same time, Parker's taken 2292. If we're accounting for volume and likely difficulty, I don't think they're close.

And yeah, Parker's never been a great 3-point shooter, but he's still considerably better than Rondo. And if we go by this season, much, much better.

Ah, that old chestnut.  Why, I wonder, in an offense as efficient as the Spurs, are you imagining that Tony Parker is taking a ton of contested jumpers?

I've seen Parker get a heck of a lot of open mid range jumpers in these playoffs.  Hey, you've got to be willing to give up something.

Rondo hits good from the elbows. But most of his shots are uncontested so you have to factor that.
