Going the Spurs way

The Spurs are built of players that know how to play the game, and aren't looking for personal glory. They all know their positions,and what they are suppose to do, and try not to do any more than that, just do what they do to the best of their abilities.

They are a very balanced team, and the role players can really shot the ball well and play very good team defense.

I think this is the style of play that Stevens is trying to get the players to do. You saw him and Pop talking it up when they visited the Spurs, Pop seemed to take a liking to Stevens, maybe even gave his some advice. I think Rondo could excel in a style like this, as long as he has players that can shoot around him. If the C's can land Love, he would really open things up, even Green could excel in the system were he doesn't have to worry about being "the man"

I think DA and Stevens have already taken some cue's from the Spurs and started to build a hybrid old school Celtics mixed in with some Spurs style of play.

Ok we have all talked about if we build the next big three from trades. As I am sitting watching these Finals games. I just say to my self if you are patient and go in and build a team from the ground up good things can happen. This team has got it all young players to vets. Yes you may have to get lucky and get a guy like Duncan but the players that this team gets just and just rebuilds in the draft is crazy. Thoughts

Spurs are a great team to follow and show the benefit of building from the ground up especially if unselfish players are drafted.   I can't even picture players like Carmelo Anthony, Kobe and Iverson on the Spurs.  Parker sometimes shoots too much but he is nothing like Anthony, Kobe or Iverson.  Scary thing is if you take Duncan off the Spurs this year and replace him with another center like Splitter, SA still wins tons of games.

The Spurs destroying Miami with Lebron playing well is an eye opener.  A deep team soundly can beat a team with the best player in the game and a couple of other all-stars.   Wade isn't this bad.  He played very well before this series but SA is making him look bad at times.

Tim Duncan is almost 40 years old and plays less than 30 minutes a game.

It's not all about him anymore.  They either knew or got lucky bringing in all the right players that can take over for the weaknesses that their star players would have once they aged, along with a gameplan to make it all work.

Three conference finals in a row, 2 nba finals in a row, and could soon be champions with your best player at 38 years old.
