If we can't land Love or Melo this summer there's no guarantee Rondo will resign with us, right? He can still do it but i doubt he'll do we'll probably have to move him before it's too late. Here's what i say: We trade everybody & just rebuild with the best players available in the draft.
1-We send Rondo, Cj & Wallace to sac for #8
2- We send Green, Anthony, Bogans to Atlanta for #15
3- We send Bass & Babb to Phoenix for #27

With these trades we get rid of Wallace, Bogans & get some value from Green & Bass. It leaves us with almost nobody on the roster, but hey we have a lot of picks in this draft. First we trade down #15 to Okc for #21 & #29 then we draft Smart at #6, McDermott at #8, TJ Warren at #17, Pj Hairston at #21, Early at #27 & Johny O'Bryant at #29. Then we resign Humph, Bradley & Bayless.
We now have:
PG: Smart, Pressey
SG: Bradley, Hairston, Bayless
SF: McDermott, TJ Warren, Early
PF: Sully, Olynyk, Humph
C: O'Bryant, Iverson, Fav

Not a championship team the first year but probably one of the best the following years especially with Brad Stevens here. :)
Thoughts?

You are considerably higher on Brad Stevens than I am.

You're also considerably more confident that having all these guys on the same timetable for contracts is a good idea.

No thanks.  That's extreme youth movement and pretty much guarantees the Celtics will be lottery bound for the next couple of years.   Also, what are the odds of all those guys actually panning out?

Also, getting rid of 3/4s of your veteran leadership is a recipe for disaster.

Yep.

How does player development work on a team that has so many rookies, including 3 at the SF spot? Not to mention another handful of players with less than 2 full seasons of NBA experience?

@Donoghus i'll say over 60% but you're right for vets. I was thinking about bringing somes vets like Caron Butler, Vinsanity, Aka 47 to lead these rookies.

@fantankerous i don't think it's "awful" in the long term. In two-three years we can have a super team considering they are all young & talented.

You're drafting 6 guys just from this draft class.  What are the odds that even 50% of them pan out, nevermind believing that all six would thus creating a "superteam".  That would pretty much be unprecedented.

17: Nurkic
21: Payton
27: Porzingis

@Dos Lol. No

Can you explain to me how the Celtics would possibly be able to afford to keep all six of those guys if they pan out the way you're assuming they will?

Those 3 just played on playoff teams, why would they want to be a part of a rebuild?

You think that there's over a 60% chance one of those players will pan out, or that all of them will? Because if you mean all of them you could divide that by 10 and still be too high.

I like the idea of youth movement but that's just too many rooks.  And like Colin said, those trades would be tough to pull off with the CBA, especially the Sacto trade.  I know they don't have any cap room.
