bandwagon fans are part of the game -- particularly for teams 'recently' added to the league with a rapid climb to success.

would be willing to bet that well over 50% of the people attending that game wouldn't know enough about that team's history to know Rony Seikaly was their first ever draft pick or had ever attended a heat game prior to Lebron's 'decision'.  probably over 80% hadn't attended a game prior to Shaq joining the team either

I wonder how many fans at any given Celtics game would be able to tell you where the original Garden was.  ;)
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Look, you can go around Boston with a video camera to and cherry pick the people you find to make the whole city look stupid. Not every person in every city is going to follow the sports teams or be interested in what's going on. It's funny to laugh at, but it wouldn't be hard to find 20 people in Boston who don't know anything about the Celtics. It's fine to make fun of Miami fans of leaving the arena (especially since Boston fans, in an even more dire situation, stayed and chanted, as the video earlier posted shows), but let's be realistic.

It's not had at all to find people who know nothing about the Celtics in Boston. I was there in 2012 for a game and wanted to see the Red Auerbach statue but didn't know my way around town or where it was. I asked many people and most of them had no idea where it was and many of them had no idea who Red Auerbach even was. I was in shock.

how long did the lets go celtics chant go on even though it was not for that playoff game??
to me that IS why players would want to come to Boston

...  I also remember Kobe Bryant getting an "MVP! MVP! MVP!" chant in Boston, late in the '06-'07 season...

Every team has bandwagon fans.  But, if you're still posting on CelticsBlog after the debacle of last season, you probably aren't one of 'em!

It's not Florida.  It's Miami.  They had to get to the better party.

NEWSFLASH Miami is in Florida?

Median is 39 nice try that is above the US average by a few years.  Most Floridans I met in the service were lightweights at partying.

+1

They should move the team to Seattle.   I bet their fans would stay the whole game.  Miami fans have a history of leaving if they are not winning.   They simply do not deserve an NBA team.

enough said...we're the best fans in the NBA

how original. a thread bashing the heat fans.

no, the great boston fans never left early. its not like you provided video proof of your fanbase doing the exact same thing....

All those fans that are dressed as yellow and black chairs.

here's another angle with more time left in the game...

So a few hundred fans chanted and that is supposed to sweep away most of the arena taking off early when your team was getting its behind whooped? Even Bill Simmons wrote about how he and other fans left early...and much like your post, there is a spin about how they weren't bad fans for doing it...... ::)

The fans were so shell-shocked that many (including me and my father) filed out with three minutes remaining, not because we were lousy fans, not to beat the traffic, but because we didn?t want to be there anymore. We wanted to get away from LeBron. He ruined what should have been a magical night.

Keep on attacking the fans if it make you feel better. Just remember, whether you realized it at the time or not, the Heat broke the back of the Celtics franchise and plunged you into the rebuild mode that you are still in. That brings this Heat fan, great satisfaction  8)

anyone remember the heat/c's series back in 09, before lebroid joined? literally half the arena was empty in miami, half-way through a playoff game... up until lebroid, they couldn't even get fans to watch a playoff game.
they're easily the worst fanbase in all of american sports.
