If no love? Tank again for more talent /high draft pick as asset.

Beyond the Kevin Love rumors, I would hope that Danny is exploring several options that include getting some top 15 talent on this team.

So if Danny cannot get a true superstar to come here via trade or some opt out S&T, or straight up signing, then yes I prefer tanking. Nothing in between though.

This time, tanking could come with real ramifications.  As in, exit Rondo stage left.  I think, one way or the other we field the best team possible and try to establish a winning culture.  If it means fighting for the 8 seed, so be it.

From here on out, we can root for the Nets and Clippers to tank.  As for the Celts, I am done with it.

i understand your feelings. but like it or not, and we all dont like it, it seems we are on board for the celtics' tank-express for another year or two.

buckle up everyone.  :D

I'd be fine with making upgrades to the roster that didn't cost draft picks or young players.  So if we can get Asik and Lin for free just by being willing to take on their salary, sign me up.  No need to tank Sixers style.  You have to win sometime, and make players want to come (and/or stay) here.  The East is still weak.  A full season of Rondo, continued improvement from some of the young players, and a couple of additions at areas of need (interior defense and wing scoring), and I'd like to believe this team should be able to compete for a playoff spot.  And if it can't, I'd like to know that too.

Did we tank this season?  Stevens had some questionable lineups out there at times...But that comes with being a rookie coach.

It wasn't like Rivers....Who would overtly substitute out a group who was on a run pretty much every time.

I would just as soon keep building with two 1st rounders than liquidate the team.  There's no Garnett out there to change the entire landscape.

we could have done a better job of tanking of that was indeed the plan this year. I would go through it again but ONLY if we pull out all the stops and make sure we get a top 3 pick this time. whatever it takes. if you tank, do it right. If not then just wheel and deal.
LET'S GO CELTICS!

I wasn't in favor of tanking this past season, as I wanted to put together a squad that wins enough games to be an attractive destination should someone like Kevin Love become available.  I feel the same way about this upcoming season.  Assemble the supporting cast, including a defensive center such as Asik, then find a way to bring a star into the mix.

I guess I prefer to look at it as, either acquire a superstar, or continue to acquire young assets. Those are my preferences.

Focusing on acquiring young assets without adding veteran talent is akin to tanking in my opinion.

I'm up for it.  If possible, I'd like to move Rondo for another top 8 pick in this draft.  Pick some keepers in this draft, go with a youth movement in 2014-15 (aka tank), and then go into 2015 with a good lotto pick and some serious cap room.

What good is cap room in that offseason really?

I'm sure top-tier free agents will be tripping over themselves to come play with Marcus Smart and Kelly Olynyk.

If you are asking if I would be OK with the Celtics picking at 6 and 17 and bringing back the rest of the team, then yes.  That's fine.  I prefer that to making a hasty trade just to get recognition or to be "relevant" again.

If you are asking if I want them to lose on purpose or to get rid of any talent they have to get a better draft pick then NO.

Of course going with the picks and current team would probably mean having to trade Rondo before he leaves.  The trade deadline might be the best time for that.

You're confusing "rebuild" with "tear down", unless you're trying to rebuild the Celts into a bottom feeder.
