Safe to say there isn't a single person on this forum who has watched love play more than a handful  of games per year. I'd say 2 max for most cb posters... And they weren't really paying attention to Love during the game.

So you have two factions here.

#1 - Celtic fans who have heard love is a poor defender and thus call him overrated

#2 - Celtic fans who see Love is statistically a top 3 player and thus call him underrated.

Doubtful anyone here actually has first hand knowledge of kevin loves game.   I'm including myself, of course. I never watch the wolves.

Put me in faction #2.  I see 26, 13, and 4, and am wowed.  I can't be convinced that a guy who can put up those kinds of numbers over 77 games of an NBA season is overrated.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I've watched over 75% of the Wolves games over the last 2 seasons. He's definitely overrated, and his numbers are relatively inflated because the team is awful, but he's not a bad player. 'Potential MVP' is a reach, but 'Perennial All-Star' is not.

Fine.  I'm wrong.  WHy in the heck did you watch 75% of the Wolves games over the past 2 seasons?  Do you live in Minny?

He's gotta have some serious skills. Just being on bad team isn't necessarily enough to inflate your stats that much. Neither is playing with a pass-first PG, for that matter. *See Jeff Green, '13-'14

Hardly -- I split League Pass with a few other people, and one of the dudes is a big Minnesota/Kevin Love fan. Makes for a good West Coast game after the Celtics most of the time.

Yes he is. Minny asking too much for a pf who can't even plays defense & didn't make the playoffs.

How many players can you replace Love with and have them lead Minnesota to the playoffs? Seriously, try to answer that question since I see this being a constant topic of criticism. LeBron and Durant...and that's about it. You can't name another and realistically say that they make the playoffs.

@Eddie20 Kobe, Melo, Griffin, Noah, Dirk, Howard, Wade, Pau Gasol would have lead this team to the playoffs more than one time.

I'm referring to this season...and no they wouldn't have.

I think only Lebron can lead that Minny team to the playoffs.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

I really  don't think anyone knows what Love has to over at defensive end. He hasn't been to a playoff that I remember, and that is here you can gauge it better. He was a big part of scoring on the Wolves offense and expended an awful lot of energy on that end of the court.

Underrated by people who think that he isn't good enough to be a potential MVP.

This is where he is overrated. I don't see Love ever winning an MVP. His lack of defense will always hold him back. And on the other end his offense isn't sensationally unstoppable. On the MVP board there is a hard line after James and Durant.

I think Love belongs in the mix of the next 10-15 players with a claim at an All NBA nod. I cant  definitively tell you he is better or worse than Lamarcus Aldridge, Chris Paul, Tony Parker, Marc Gasol, etc.

i agree. And does a pf that has shot at around 44 fg percent for his career  considered great in this league??

The guy is a mad chucker some games

Here we go again....Third best PER in the league after Lebron and Durant....http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/statistics

PER is not a good statistic. There are many legitimate ways to measure Love's value in ways that do him favors, though.

Yes, he is, but he's Celticsblog's current favorite overrated player.

I wouldn't trade the farm for him, Melo or Asik.

Marc Gasol and/or Lamarcus Aldridge are a much better fit with Rondo and they can be important on both sides of the ball. Be patient and trade for them in February 2015.

Rondo is.  ;)
