You don't see a 20 year old improving his post game? I agree his strength is D and rebounding, but I can see Adams being able to give you 10-12 ppg with strong rebounding and D which is pretty solid.

Do you see KO improving at the defensive end?

Absolutely.  I actually think his defensive woes have been greatly overblown.  He's not an above the rim athlete, but he knows how to move his feet and get in position.  I think he has the tools and the intelligence to be a decent defender if paired with a real rim protecting center.

Leading up to the 2013 draft, Steven Adams was the guy that I was trumpeting as the player I wanted selected by the Celtics.  He has proven to be pretty much exactly what I thought he would be--a tough, hard-nosed, defensive minded center.  I felt that we needed one of those, and he fit the bill.

All that said, I'm very happy with Kelly Olynyk.  He's obviously none of the things that I mentioned above, but he is an extremely versatile and skilled big man.  I really like Klynyk's future and wouldn't change how the 2013 draft turned out.

Adams was considered raw in college and when he was drafted, almost everyone expected he'd be a several-year project.  While he's still going to require multiple seasons of development, he's been far better than expected and according to many who watched him at Pitt, much better than he was in school.  Not that implausible that he can blossom into something special over time.

I'm sorry I can't allow a topic about Steven Adams to go by without posting a link to an article like this:

Or an image like this:

I'll admit he is highly skilled... at making enemies.

This article just makes Tony Allen sound stupid. Adams plays hard, and doesn't take any BS from any of the vets around the league... Thats why so many of them have been ejected for fighting him this season(Nate Robinson, Vince Carter and Z-Bo). In every single one on those altercations Adams did nothing but play hard, and the vets couldn't handle.

Adams has held his own against some of the best big men in the league during these play offs, what more could you ask from a raw rookie, who played rugby until he was 16

Check out Duncan's reaction after this... Priceless

Tony does sound a little bitter, some might say petty maybe.

Certainly Adams has never come across like that when talking to the media...

I really hope Exum posterises him on his first play against OKC
