With the link above I found this interesting with what they had to say about Kyrie Irving.   I wonder if he will eventually get traded, or turn things around with what looks like Embiid coming on board (and possibly Lebron).   I wonder if it also means it's less likely Love will be traded there.

KYRIE POINTS OUT
The Cavs are making noises that they aren?t going to offer Kyrie Irving ?max money" this summer via a long-term extension. They don?t want to deal the 2014 All-Star Game MVP, but it could come to that, especially if the West Orange product and his family continue to tell people that he wants out. Irving hasn?t been a leader in his first three seasons and he?s also gained the unwelcomed reputation as a locker-room problem. Those are two reasons the Cavs don?t see him as a max player.

?He was just handed too much, too soon," said one source. ?You?ve got to make these young guys earn it, and that?s where this team did a bad job with him."

As for their next coach, the Cavs are not looking for a strong veteran presence who wants to do things only his way. So you can count out Jeff Van Gundy, George Karl and Hollins, although any of them would probably help the young, underachieving roster. New GM David Griffin is looking for a college or NBA coach who agrees to accept input and instructions from himself and the Cavs? notorious hands-on owner, Dan Gilbert. That makes for a potential nightmare, although candidates Alvin Gentry or Jim Cleamons might figure it?s still one of only 30 NBA jobs, so why not give it a shot?

The Cavs know they can?t get Love in a deal for the No. 1 overall pick they secured with their third lottery win in the last four seasons. If they keep the pick, they?re expected to take Kansas big man Joel Embiid, unless the stress fracture in his back injury from last season has the chance to become a long-term issue. . . . Embiid?s agent, Arn Tellem, might not make his client?s medical records, including reports on the back, available to certain teams where he doesn?t want Embiid to play. . . . Denver isn?t going to allow Brian Shaw to come to New York in case Phil Jackson can?t land Derek Fisher, even if the Knicks offer compensation. ?We didn?t hire Brian for a one-year position with our team," the Nuggets? team president, Josh Kroenke, told me. ?We see Brian being with us for years to come." If Fisher turns Jackson down, it?ll be on to Kurt Rambis, another member of the Zen Master?s small circle of basketball friends. . . . The Sterlings might think they can dictate how they?re going to sell the Clippers, but make no mistake: Adam Silver and the NBA are running this show. . . . As much as Deron Williams probably wants to move on and get a fresh start in a less-pressurized market, name one NBA team that will take on his remaining $63 million, knowing that he just had both ankles operated on.

If the Cavs know they can't get Embiid for their #1 pick, I'd love to see the C's as some sort of intermediary between the two, with the C's sending assets to Minny--and taking back the ticket to Embiid.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Why does it say that the Cavs know they can't get Love in a deal for the #1 pick? Would Minny not accept such a deal - am I missing something? If that is the case, Minny is not very bright.

As for Irving, a change of scenery probably would do him well, but not sure of the prospects of a trade. The Cavs obviously have a couple of very hefty assets in Irving and the #1 plus lots of cap space next year. They seem poised to be one of the next big teams in the east.

Well, we already know Minny is not very bright.  They prove that year after year.
If it is at all possible to get Embiid in a Celtics uniform, count me in.  Scouts and analysts have been drooling over his workouts the past few days.

ugghh, this doesn't sound good for this guy. sounds like he could be another Antoine Walker if true. guys develop bad habits if they're given free reign to do whatever they want. it's the one thing doc was good at and not just playing a rookie "just because". he made 'em earn it.

anyway, sounds like the Cavs are just posturing. I mean I know it's Cleveland and they could very well screw this up but I have to believe that if they even have the slightest belief that LeBron might want to go back there then he's probably going to want to have Irving there.

with all that said if we trade for love I would not mind getting irving here.

The NY Daily News is a nonsense tabloid that has been spouting Kyrie nonsense for months in order to give Knicks fans hope that he will force a trade to their team.

The Wolves would jump on a trade of the #1 pick for Love.

I'm guessing it means that Love won't re-sign in Cleveland so they aren't going to give up the #1 pick for a one year rental.

Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah

I refuse to see the Celts get involved in a deal where Love goes somewhere other than Boston.

Of course, I also don't see the big deal with Embiid either.

But Love would not. ...Deng is gone this summer. And Love would follow him. I don't see a more realistic destination for Love than Boston. Parsons probably won't re-sign in Minnesota, so the Houston deal is out. The Lakers have no assets valuable enough for a trade. Golden State has valuable assets - but not valuable enough assets.

Only Boston has an attractive destination, the hope of re-signing Love, and the assets to get a deal done. If Cleveland made that deal it would be a huge organizational mistake.

exactly. The NY press has also been spouting similar rubbish about Rondo to give Knicks fans hope that they can get him for the poor assets that they have.

it could be because Love doesn't want to be in Cleveland and would walk?

Exactly! Draft picks (no 6 pick this summer, Brooklyn '16 or '18 pick), young players on long-term deals (Sully, Olynyk) and expiring contracts (Bass, Anthony, Bogan's non-guaranteed deal) are what the Celtics have to offer and why they are a perfect trade partner for Minnesota.

Why? Embiid has yet to play a single minute of basketball in the NBA, and he has back concerns. Love has proven to be a double double machine in the NBA.

Not to mention, with Embiid, you're going to have to wait 2-3 years before he develops.

I guess to each his own, but I would want no part of that.
