Boston trades: Rajon Rondo, Kelly Olynyk & #17 pick

Orlando trades: Nikola Vucevic, Jameer Nelson & #4 pick

This trade gives Boston the center they'll need to be able to move Sullinger back to Center. It also gives them the #4 & 6 pick that they could potentially nab Jabari Parker or Embiid & or Dante Exam or Marcus Smart to replace Rondo's exit. You almost certainly let Avery Bradley walk & not over pay. I would aggressively try to trade Jeff Green, And if I couldn't find a partner I would use him as my very big athletic SG. He spends most his time on the perimeter shooting 3's anyways. Lineup could look like this!

PG: Marcus Smart
SG: Jeff Green
SF: Jabari Parker or Andrew Wiggins
PF: Jared Sullinger
C : Nikola Vucevic

If Embiid slips that's ok also as we'll have a great collection of young bugs that we can always deal at any point in time. But Boston would still have to take him IMO.

Not sure Orlando goes for this, maybe we gotta swap 17 for 6 but if I were Danny this is the type deal I'm looking for if I give up my superstar PG.

Rondo and the 17 wouldn't get us Vucevic, let alone the 4th pick.  He is really valuable

Magic says no.

Why would they give up Nikola, their top 5 pick, for Rondo and our 17th?

Doesn't make any sense, and Magic would be stupid to do so.

I would love the trade though, would extremely favor us.

Would they trade Vucevic & 4 for Rondo K.O. & 6?

Would they trade Vucevic & 4 for Rondo K.O. & 6?

Vuvecic is a walking double double who has plenty of room to grow...

Hes the biggest piece from the Dwight Howard trade that is left, and has plenty of potential..

The Magic would be dumb to trade him away for Rondo. #6 would be tempting, but who is going to be their Center then?

Orlando happily takes either Exum at #4, or whichever of the top three happen to drop for whatever reason.

I tend to agree.  It'll take a pretty significant overpay, IMO, to get that 4th pick.

To answer your question - yes, I would take that trade in a heartbeat.

I think Orlando likes their draft position. Keep hearing how they would take Exum or Smart even if they got a top 3.

Is Otis Smith back in Orlando?

Otherwise, they laugh themselves sick on this proposal.

If "1 of the top 3 falls", than that would price the #4 pick much higher. And why would they also give up Vucevic? Rondo does not have much value in this trade since Rondo would only be there for 1 year and then he would split.

Orlando is building a team for a few years down the road. A rookie at 4 is probably a better fit than anyone (or any combination of players) on our roster.

Take Smart top 3? Sounds like sour grapes to me. It is easy to say 'we would pick X even at #1' when you aren't #1.

Would they trade Vucevic & 4 for Rondo K.O. & 6?
So this is essentially Exum & Vucevic for Rondo, KO & #6.

If they really prefer a lesser talent to Exum, they may want to trade down. There is about zero chance they trade down and take back a 1 year rental like Rondo. It isn't going to happen. Orlando is going nowhere next season. Probably nowhere the season after. Vucevic could still be around when their young guys mature. Rondo won't.

Unreasonable trade idea. Even less so if one of the top 3 fell.

It's probable more of an indication that the teams drafting and the mock drafters don't agree about the value of one of the players.

I guess Rondo isn't a Superstar at all & is more of a glue guy if he isn't worth anything ever in any scenario! I happen to think Rondo is worth alot! You never know what u have until its gone.

Rondo's value is at an all time low, imo.  He's not a top tier superstar.  He has an year left on his deal, and the magic would need certainty that he would resign before ever doing a deal like this.  Why give up a low cost center AND the #4 pick for Rondo?  They could pick up Exum or Smart and continue their rebuild.
