(1). Rich, and pay for good players no problem
(2). Are polite, and not wont to do weird things
(3). Are obviously fans of the team, but are not over the top or awkward about it
(4). Let other people run the basketball stuff
(5). Are visible.

What other team has better ownership?

I'd say Cuban's the best owner in the NBA and it's not even close, although I could see how he could rub people the wrong way.

Worst is somewhere between  Clay Bennett + company, Ted Leonsis and the guy that owns the Magic, esp. after Sterling's formally given the boot.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

I think Cuban is a great owner. But there is something annoying about him. Wyc & Co. don't offend.

Clay Bennett?

Last time I checked, the Thunder are in the conference finals and Celtic fans are pining for a 10-year draft-reliant rebuild that's never going to work.

 ;D

And the reason Bennett is bad is what, exactly?
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Spurs, Pacers, Thunder, Heat?

I would say the Spurs at least have better scouts than us. Not sure about ownership though.

He probably feels that he screwed over the people of Washington state.

Pure ownership:
Scuttled a legitimate contender under the flimsy excuse of not wanting to pay the Luxury Tax, then got the league to reimburse the team for Kevin Durant's contract extension (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2013/7/18/4536924/oklahoma-city-thunder-kevin-durant-contract-nba), Refuses to fire Scott Brooks and replace him with a competent coach.

Unpleasant basketball maneuvers:
Conspired to steal the Sonics from Seattle. Possibly by ordering the GM to divest the team of talent in order to keep attendance down while making absurd claims on a publicly financed arena, although the GM part is speculation on my part.

Unpleasantness elsewhere:
Since I was saying "Clay Bennett + co," I'll point out that Aubrey McClendon owns Chesapeake Energy Corporation, which makes its money off of fracking, something I'm not down with.

As far as I know, part of the reason OKC traded Thunder was because his money demand would have put them into a situation where they would have to pay luxury taxes and other fees.

The owners of Celtics wouldn't even bother thinking about luxury tax in that situation.

He probably feels that he screwed over the people of Washington state.

Screwed over his own fans too by being a cheapskate on the Harden thing.  Talk about letting your fans down just because you don't wanna pay the luxury tax even though you have the most promising team since probably the mid 90s Magic & Sonics.

Combine that with the way he handled Seattle and I certainly wouldn't put him in the conversation of best owners in the NBA.

He also hasn't won anything (and won't again this seasson).  At least Wyc & Co. have a ring.

Cuban's good, but he probably gets in the way too much of the actual basketball people and wants to make decisions himself. Our owners just let Ainge and company do their thing and it's awesome.

honorable mention to the Bulls owner for worst owner. guy is a multi billionaire but refuses to ever(maybe once) pay the luxury tax. goes as far as to make trades like Deng for Bynum to stay under the tax. also wont Amnesty Boozer(granted he has 1 last chance to prove me wrong) to free cap space.

I agree; our ownership group is top-notch.  They don't get in trouble, they don't meddle, yet they are active fans, and they are willing to spend the dough when needed.

No complaints.

James Dolan (NYK) and Dan Gilbert (CCavs) would surely be high on any "worst ownwership" lists in any US pro sports. Of course Sterling, except for a period less than a year, would probably not only win the award, but have the award named after him.

Sterling's in a different stratosphere when it comes worst owner.  Basically, everyone else is fighting for 2nd place.

Dolan's getting up there.

That he wants to be profitable makes him a bad owner?
