Danny like alot of fans here sounds like he rather trade the 6th pick for a good vet like Love.  Even if he doesnt promise to resign right away. He wants this to happen , like alot of fans. But if no team cares to provide value for the pick, nothing will happen. Anybody really think the wolves would trade love for the 6 or 7th picks?? Even with a future 1st and sully, no way they would. They rather play love , try to change his mind to stay and trade him at the deadline for likely a heck lot more.

So unless danny can move up somehow he is going to face a choice to pick gordon, randle or smart (likely gone by 5). Saric is another possibilty but I doubt he comes over to NA right away. A nice ending to all this lotto disappointment talk is if someone like embiid or smart does end up falling bc another non 5 prospect gets chosen in the top 5

So my pt is dont expect much to happen related to the pick .  Prob a better chance is rondo is traded and the celts move to start a full rebuild.  Im expecting gordon or smart to be a celtic by the time the draft night is over .

Now that scenario would qualify as an unmitigated disaster.

The pick is plenty valuable.  Teams want it.  We will probably keep it.

Ummm a top 6 pick can still net Smart, Randle, Vonleh, and Gordon...

How is that not valuable..?

I agree with all except for the last part.

Cs fans are just being whiny because we can't get any of the Top 4. Yet - the pick is still valuable to us and other teams. I've long felt that DA will attempt to recreate the 07 magic. Winning teams are better than losing ones. A long rebuild in Boston is not an option.

Good lord, just because teams aren't willing to trade a top 10 allstar like Love for #6 doesn't mean the 6th pick isnt valuable.

I'm sure teams will call the C's to trade. Teams like the Hornets could offer next years first and this years to move from 9 to 6 if there is a guy there they really like.

We dont need anymore future picks .  The Hornets  arent likely to get worse soon either

Well if its not a player like love for the 6th , who do ppl want then? Eric gordon for 6th?  Dwill for the 6th? How will that help the celts get anywhere

I will be ok with getting aaron gordon or smart actually.   If danny cant make a big splash and get at least one good vet by draft night imo its better he trades rondo and starts the rebuild from scratch. Give BS a proper fresh start.

Should have just named this thread, "Trade Rondo now."

No. The pt is fans cant expect the world for this pick.   Its not the kind of pick that will net u an all star calibre player.

Maybe a ray allen at age 32. But even those kind of players seem like they are not availble this offseason

Does this mean that you don't think Aaron Gordon has all-star potential after all?

He's right man, nobody drafted with the 6th pick or later has ever been an allstar or hall of fame player.  ::)

I think the number of stars involved in trades where the team losing the star didn't end up with a top 5 pick would shock you. It's probably fairly rare when it happens. KG didn't net one, neither did CP or Howard or Harden. Look at what those players (all but Harden generally seen as better than Love) netted.

Well instead of a top pick other pretty good players were involved to make the trades work.   Mchale took a risk with the KG trade and failed. But if Jefferson, Green for example peaked alot sooner than it would of been a good trade for the wolves.

no. The Wolves for example don't want to backtrack by trading Love and replace him with a young player.   Gordon will be good, but its going to take 2 to 3 years.  By then Pekovic could be gone, and who knows where everyone else will be

For a team like the Wolves it's better they trade Love for vets like Lee and Klay Thompson right now. Keep the momentum going

Otherwise trading Love for say a young hype player like Wiggins would at least bring in the fans into the building and make the owner money

Gerald wasn't really a good player when we traded him. The returns on those trades were pretty meh. I don't think you can really look at them and come to the conclusion that Minny will get a king's ransom for Love.
