Post Lottery Offseason Moves to Build a Contender

Alright I am pro-love its not often you get a chance to trade for an all star going into his prime at age 25. I can see love as the type of player that can have that Boston Connection. So here we go with my version of the Love trade.

Boston Sends- Jared Sullinger, Brandon Bass, Bogans, #6 pick, Boston unprotected 2015 1st, Nets 2016 top 3 protected.

Wolves Send Love. I think they look at Howard and Lebron and they dont want to end up like the magic and cavs, so they move him for the best package offered, which I believe will be ours.

Next move - BOS-PHI

Boston Sends- KO, Gerald Wallace, 17th pick, the right to their own pick back from the heat
Sixers send- Richardson, Henry Sims, 10th pick

For cap space that wont be used and a move down 7 picks the Sixers get KO who's passing and scoring ability would go well with this team, and he would be a perfect fit to go with Noel. This makes Young expendable for the Sixers. MCW-Wiggins-?-KO-Noel very promising start to the rebuild. For us we rid wallaces contract but lose a potentially very solid player in KO. The cap space will be used to finish the big 3.

Next move Trade #10 and #17 to Sacremento for #8 and pick whoever falls.
 

In the draft select Marcus Smart at #8.

Next Move

Send Jeff Green, and the 2015 clippers pick for Omer Asik (use the pp te to absorb the contract). I think Jeff fits this team as a good complementary star player that will be good as stretch 4 and backup the 2 and 3 for them. Gives them much needed depth, a plethora of possible lineups, a perfect complement to Harden, Howard, and Parsons, and they get a 1st round pick.

I think its almost a sure thing Melo is going to opt out now. If I did my math right with all these moves we made we should be sittin pretty at 36 mil in used cap space with Asik under the TE. Sign Melo to 4yr/95.9 contract. The opportunity to play with Rondo, Smart, Love, and Asik in Boston is to hard for him to pass up. This will be his best opportunity for a ring since coming into the nba. The first year of his contract will be 22.4 mil so that puts us at 58.4 mil. 2.13 mil for Smart. Puts us at 60.53.

Sign AB to his 3.58 QO puts us at 64.11 mil.

Sign PP to the MLE.

Fill out the roster with vet min signs.

I think these players complement each other perfectly. Smart can handle the backup point if needed, with PP leading this bench we might be able to send out the Truth on a Farewell tour worthy enough for him. I think this is a 60 win team easily. Smart is one of the most nba ready rookies in the draft, we get 2 of the best if not the best 2 go to scorers in the game, with rondo dishing the rock and asik's defense in play, and you cant forget the truth is back in green, Things could look good in Boston again. I think this team could take Miami or Indiani in 7.

So tell me what you guys think!!! If this were to be our opening day roster in 2015, I would wear my green everyday for the rest of my life!! So seriously please tell me what you guys think, whether you think its realistic or not tell me I like feedback good or bad, I hate posting something so long and not getting a single comment on it lol.

I think philly won't mind trading cap space that they aren't going to use to get a good young prospect in Kelly. Maybe add a future lottery protected first. Philly loves their picks.

That's a possibility no? He could earn a considerably larger and lengthier contract if he does stay healthy and improves his game.

I don't understand why it will take so much to land Love.  IMO the #6 pick plus Sully (a guy who easily would've gone 6th if not for back issues) should be enough.  To have to throw in additional picks, just doesn't make sense. 

Love was the #5 pick, and also has an injury history (season ending knee surgery two years ago).  Sully's stats are not that far off from where Love's were after two years.

Don't get me wrong.  I know Love is better than Sully projects and likely better than the #6 this year, but he's not without warts.  He's a defensive liability and cannot play up-tempo.  To top it off, Minny is not really in the driver's seat here.  He's gonna leave, so they are desperate.  Why give up 3 or 4 assets that each might be better than Love in time (again probably not, but there's an OK chance that one of those assets would be - and we are talking about 3 or 4).  He's not KG.  He doesn't have that leadership ability, the passion, etc..

If Sully + #6 can't get it done, then forget it, IMO.

I don't want to give up much more than that either.  I'd really like to see what Sully can do after a healthy offseason when he can work on his game and conditioning.

What if you traded melo for Deng instead. We could afford him buy using the stretch provision on Wallace. Rondo-Smart-Deng-Love-Asik with pp Bradley Blair and Bayless off the bench is still contender material.

I think :

1) Our #6 pick + Sully might be too much to give up for love.  Sully could easily become as good as love, so could Smart/Vonleh. 

2) Trading Green for Asik would be terrible.  Asik will earn far too much this upcoming season and is a major liability on offense.  Green is on a much more affordable contact,  is a two -way threat.  With Love and Asik we have one guy who is a liability on defense and one who is a liability on offence.  Not a good combination. Plus I think if we did have a scorer like a Love he'd draw a lot of defensive attention, leaving Green and  Bradley with a ton of space to score.

3) I don't think Sac would make that draft pick trade...I think one higher pick has more value to them.

4) Melo and Love makes me think of Melo+Amare.  that has the potential to be one really bad defensive lineup..

I don't think that'd even close to contender material.  Rondo cant shoot, Smart cant shoot, Deng is declining,  love can't defend, Asik cant score period.

That smells like 8th seed knockout to me.

People were saying the same crap about Al Jefferson and what was the Minnesota 1st round pick in 09 that ended up being 6th overall.

Guess what, they absolutely could become better than Kevin Love...odds are slim that they will.

Say what you want about Kevin Love but he is far and away the best rebounder in the league and he scores at will. He looks like he is going to surpass everything Dirk Nowitzki has done in his career and he is 25, not 35.

I'd trade Sully, #6, #17, LA 2016, Green for Love if we had to.
