This post makes less sense than the Cavs re-hiring Mike Brown.

I think he got Adam Sterling confused with the Thunder's instigator.

I was kind of thinking about this the other day. because of what Stephen A. Smith said about how "the players demand to know; if it's not a unanimous vote by the owners to get Sterling out that the players should know what owners voted against it."

I personally think it shouldn't be made public. they should just let us know if there's enough to get him out or not. if not then and only then make it public.

but honestly if there are some that don't vote to get him out i'm not sure the NBA wants to open this can of worms because you could pretty much see a long strike ahead.

The players could just as easily go on strike if the results aren't made public, which is fine with me.

From Silver:

Quote
And I think what made this moment bigger than basketball, certainly for everybody involved in the league, and that moment being that recording, was that it did come from within, that under David Stern and commissioners that came before him, barriers were broken with this league, and I think for those who say it's a slippery slope, and my God, what happens to the next player or the next owner who does something wrong, I'd only say there's something particular about race issues when it comes to sports, and maybe the NBA in particular.

"I mean, it's no secret we have a league that the majority of the players are African-American; the vast majority of the owners are not. But it's as egalitarian an institution as there is anywhere, at least that I know of. And I look at the track record in terms of hiring of coaches, general managers, front-office personnel, even increasingly in the ownership ranks, I think it's you know, it's beyond anger. It's sort of what I said earlier. There's a certain sadness, and you feel it, it's almost a malaise around the league.

"That's what I sensed when I first met with the Clippers. It was something deeper than anger.

"And again, it's that so many of our players in listening to Kevin Durant who had experienced discrimination in their lives, we're not a post-racial society, but at least within the boundaries of my authority, I feel an obligation to protect the people who are within this league, and so that's my reaction."

Excellently said, IMO.

But if the players went on strike over this, wouldn't that be a breach of contract?

I was actually thinking the other day, what if Wyc voted to not remove Sterling, just to cause a little turmoil and hope the Clippers crumble next season because of it (and that 1st round pick of theirs that we own becomes a top lottery pick)?

I wonder if there's some conference or division rivals thinking the same thing.  Don't want to lose to the Blake and CP show for the next 5+ years, so I'll vote to keep Sterling and hope his team implodes (I'm looking at you GS and LAL).

I figure if it's secret ballot that has a chance, public ballot no way.

Yes they would be in breach at that point, so?

The NBA isn't going to void their contracts, it wants its players on the court and it doesn't want a FA frenzy after a strike certainly.

The real question is, would they just fill up the rosters with whomever would cross the line and continue on as normal.  I think they just might do that and I think a very large number of players would cross the line because really at the end of the day a racist owner doesn't affect them.  Not playing and not earning money does.
