Realistic

Falling back to 6 obviously makes it harder but I don't think it's a dealbreaker. Ive fiddled a bit on trade machine and came up with...

Boston trades: Jeff Green, Brandon Bass (expiring), Jared Sullinger, Joel Anthony (expiring)
2014 Boston 6th pick, 2014 Boston 17th pick, 2015 Boston 1st round pick,
Minnesota trades: Kevin Love, Chase Budinger.

Boston would get an immediate top 10 NBA player to pair with Rondo, would cash in half of it's assets, and have 2/3 of it's next big 3.

Timberwolves would get a huge haul of assets and a promising young player in Sullinger. Bass and Anthony are both expiring so they will free up some money in 2015. Minnesota also rids themselves of a bad contract in Budinger.
----------------------------------------------------------------

I honestly think this is fair for both sides. Boston might be heckled to give up an extra nets pick but I think they should fight it to use in another trade down the line. To the people I know will say Boston is giving too much up remember that you are trading for a 25 year old all-star entering the prime of his career. Boston will still have money to sign people this offseason and immediately compete.

I don't want Love. I think Sullinger in a few years is going to give us most of what Love can give on the offensive end, with better defense. What I'd rather see happen:

Trade: Brandon Bass, Avery Bradley, #17 for Omer Asik
Draft: Julius Randle
Sign: Paul Pierce, other cheap FAs

Rondo/FA like Steve Blake
Green/Chris J
Pierce/Wallace
Sully/Randle
Asik/Olynyk

They're going to ask for at least one Brooklyn pick.

If you think the TWolves want to dump Budinger's contract, why not keep Green and offer them Bogans instead?

I'm actually fine with both the ideas above. Though I think it's a pipe dream that PP comes back in the offseason (could see it in a couple years but he's headed to a contender next year).

The beauty of it is that da has many options thanks to all the first rounders.

Frankly though I think we've got enough "young talent". Time to trade up a bit. Ie package some of the "assets" for bigger fish like Love. If possible.

I think it starts here:

2014 #6
BRK 2016 pick
Jared Sullinger or Kelly Olynyk

I'd look to use Bass, Anthony, and Bogans as salary filler.

Then I'd hope to get Kevin Martin and Corey Brewer in the package -- allowing the T-Wolves to shed salary.

Gerald Wallace's deal has some use there, because his contract is one year shorter than K-Mart's, and it's the same length as Brewer's.

Yeah I'd rather keep most of those Nets picks. They are lottery picks waiting to happen.

But if it's a deal-breaker if we dont include the 2016 nets 1st rounder im all for letting go of it.

I don't think the Wolves want Wallace at all though. Do you think they would look at the contract as a 10 million expiring? And if the Celtics thought Wallace was annoying now, wait till Wallace comments about the team that led the league in losing the closest contested games lol.

I think that's starting too high.  You have to give them a lowball offer.  Houston gave up a guy just drafted in the late lottery, two future firsts, a second, and Kevin Martin for James Harden, and that was with a max extension.  I'd start with Sullinger or Olynyk, the 2014 Brooklyn pick, a 2015 first, and the protected Philly pick.

probably close to what it would take.  I'd make the provision the Wolves get the lesser of the C's or Nets pick in 2016.  Nets could very well be in the lottery and possibly win it.  I want that safeguard for the C's that the Nets were too foolish to require.

I dont  think its that bad a spot. I think Ainge would have been unlikely to move a top 3 pick and now it gives him less to think about

If the Wolves are trading Love, the priorities look like this:

1. Get young assets.  A nice lottery pick and an established young player, hopefully with additional picks or players.
2. Clear the books moving forward.  Aim to have cap space a few years down the road, at which point the Wolves will hopefully have some nice young pieces starting to mesh together.

It doesn't matter that Wallace is not that good right now.  It doesn't matter that he talks a bit too much.  Tell him to stay home.  Whatever.  The Wolves aren't going anywhere in the next two years if they trade Love, anyhow.
