The Nets problem is that Deron Williams is not the player he was advertised to be.

I would put Paul, Westbrook, Lillard, Parker, Curry, Rondo, Irving, Conley, Wall, Lowry, Bledsoe and Teague all ahead of Williams at this point of his career.

That and Lopez' injury killed their hopes.

Joe Johnson still a very good player.

I was mad we didn't trade Pierce a couple years ago when he still had trade value.  It sounds like we came very close to trading Ray to Memphis and Pierce to the Nets, but both deals fell apart...

I was pretty shocked that a year later we were able to get the kind of value for Pierce + KG that we did.   Here's hoping we can bring both of those guys back to Boston.... Give KG a coach role... bring Pierce back to mentor the youths.

Danny was smart to trade them as a package deal. KG and Pierce had more value together, than they did separate, imo. The Nets basically traded to acquire the championship pedigree/culture that define the 2007-2013 Celtics teams. That is why I think we were able to get so much.

We also got probably an additional first rounder for taking back Gerald Wallace's contract.

Also don't forget, we get to swap picks in 2017 if the Celtics are good and the Nets stink. :D

People also need to remember. The Nets inability to acquire players in the draft will catch up with them.

Andray Blatche is a free agent this off-season, Kirilenko is a free agent next year. That team is going to thin out very fast.

It still amazes me that the Nets traded for Gerald Wallace instead of Pierce. Who knows why that trade chatter broke down but still....

Those three nets picks from 2016-18 could be very very good.

No way! You're telling me Gerald Wallace, Humphries and picks in the middle of the draft are better than Hump, Brooks 1st rounder combined with Eric Bledsoe, Deandre Jordan and a pick? Maybe your saying at the time we made the trade? Because the KG trade was still somewhat on the table at that point.
Truuuuuuuuuth!

i agree with this, this team looks like jump shooting and iso team,
if rondo was on the team he should have control the offense even if they keep shooting at mid-court and rondo can rebounds

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Did anyone watch the Nets vs Miami series?

That series was closer than the 4-1 scorecard.

Rookie coach, Williams is injured basically all season and played like poo in the playoffs.
Lopez- their season MVP- goes down indefinitely and I'm not sure what you expect of them?

If they bring that exact team back again next season and have some luck in the way of staying injury free then they'll be a top 6 team again.

Losing Lopez was huge for them. Look what happened to us in 2009 when KG went down- we didn't stand a chance.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

every nets fans expectations are high, of all the player KG is the most expected because of what he brings on the table, back in the past when kg and pierce was on the celtics, we signed dj white and shavlik randolph which i think shavlik could carry some minutes for kg but he is not seen on court bu ta bench player, come playoffs time tyson chandler killed kg inside,
kg forced to do everything bass green everyone can't rebounds

since the rondo injury pierce is forced to run the offense, which the tempo of the offense is not controlled,
same with the nets you trade you main rebounder reggie evans, your top low post scorer shot blocker lopez injured, plumlee eveytime in the game gets fouls trouble, blatche has no defense and can't rebounds at all you expect kg to do it all

even with perkins playing and kg injured, its not enough

Evans was out of the rotation; him not being around for the playoffs is inconsequential, really.

People still aren't done hating on Doc? That's funny, I thought the haters would be over it by now.

I only follow the Clippers now because of Doc. Despite all the knocks against him, I still feel like Doc is a top three coach in the NBA today. I'd love to see him actually work with a roster that remains consistent for more than one year outside of the main core a la the Spurs. Felt like we had ten players out, ten players in each year with the Cs. And let's not forget who drafted and signed guys like the Irish kid from Notre Dame, Semih Erden, Von Wafer, Jawan Johnson, E'twan Moore, Fab Melo etc. Doc barely had talented role players these past couple years. All Danny decisions right there. Let's not forget how David West skipped out on us years ago, can't help but think the fault laid with more people than just Doc.
Long-form is far from dead, but please refrain from paragraph-laden posts! Who wants to read that?!

doc is a great player, i think if you put him on the nets as a coach, kg would not look old playing 25 minutes + a game, and the starting 5 of nets are better than those of clippers
