  • GOT IT!!!
The Russian threw whatever he could together and mortgaged his teams future for at best middle of the road playoff team. NY has never been about building a winning culture, just billionaires trying to buy a championship. Forgive me if I don't shed a tear for such greed. I wouldn't be surprised if Prokhorov gets bored eventually and sells the team.

Bill Simmons tweeted (on my phone, cant post the link but he did) that if PP and KG retires, then Brooklyn just gave up three 1st for a rental.

Danny Ainge hosed the Nets, man.

They are title or bust. That team isn't winning a title anytime soon.

Now I wonder how much they will spend this off season. They have a bunch of free agents, and might need to spend even more money on the team next year.

Pierce is going to cost at least 8-10 million
Will Kirilenko not opt out of his 3 million dollar deal?
Meanwhile the minimum guys like Livingston, Anderson, and maybe Blatche deserve a raise.
On top of that, are they going to throw the small MLE at someone?

On that note, Pierce can probably pressure the Nets into a big extension. If he walks away, that would really make that trade a disaster. It might be a lose lose situation for the nets.

I think Pierce walks to another team with better prospects.

Check Jason Terry's body. I think the Nets goals might be depicted somewhere on it.

I still predict Pierce goes to the Clippers in an MLE type deal for 1 year.

Pierce could be an interesting fit (and still get 10 million) on Dallas, Phoenix, Washington or.... San Antonio. I would love to see him play on the Spurs.

If he was to take the MLE he could go to the Clippers, Pacers, Grizzlies, Rockets, Bulls, Thunder, etc.

I just don't want to see him go to Miami.  :'(

Wow. Pierce on the Spurs is a great thought.

I don't think Pierce goes to Miami.  He knows the history.  He has that rivalry.  I just don't think he's the type to cave in.

He's more likely to go somewhere to try & not Miami than join them, IMO.

They'd be my top choice except (1) the Spurs already have a good rotation at the wing spots, and (2) I'd be worried that next year would be the one in which the wheels finally came off for SAS.

In the least, Pierce would be an upgrade over Danny Green.

But yeah, i doubt that connection happens. If anything San Antonio needs to keep finding younger faster players.

Style and fit wise, the grizzlies or Clippers could be interesting. Pierce would need to take a big discount though.

I predict he resigns with Brooklyn for 24-30 million over 2 years, and maybe half the second year is guaranteed. I hope he goes to another team though.

No one is giving Pierce 10+ million. He'll be looking at MLE size contracts.

Brook Lopez getting hurt and missing the playoffs was a huge blow.  They had no shot once that happened.

How about Brooklyn? Their spending shows no limits.

I think Pierce is worth 10 million for a single season to the right team. He is still a top 10 small forward, especially at playoff time.
