Nets GM: hello kg, we need to talk, you know we love you here in nets that's why we got you here, we still believe in your talent and we want you back in our team

KG: uhm, i'll think of it

Nets GM: aside from lopez and plumlee and blatche, since lopez needs to rest his knee and plumlee is a rookie, i saw you carrying the load of nets team at center as you did to brooklyn since lopez was injured,

KG: so yah, i did that many times in my career anchoring the defense and setting picks

Nets GM: we know you are a nice and great player that is why we gonna do our best to help you, we will sign another descent player that can help you and maybe move you to PF sometimes, are you ok with that? and its also good while lopez rest his knee

KG: what kind of big man centers are in your mind?

Nets GM: someone who can play 3rd C to help you front court, someone like mozgov kaman varejao koufos

KG: i like that idea, maybe i could play at PF sometimes and those guys could start with plumlee as back-up center while lopez rest, sounds good to me, but add another back-up descent pg to help us

Nets GM: ok kg, we will do our best to help you and sign a descent pg as you said,

(KG returns to nets and take his 12million salary)
pierce also returns

Ainge: Hey KG, would you ask for a buyout and rejoin us with veteran minimum?

KG: Absolutely, I bleed green, and Rondo is like my little brother. I've never really wanted to leave Boston anyway.

(KG return to the Celtics, along with Pierce)

Wyc should make Cheerios an official partner of the Boston Celtics.

I think KG would definitely return for a lifetime supply of Honey Nut Cheerios.
But then we could never get Melo...hmmm...great idea. Do it.

I think the potential of them coming back as players next season is zero, for both. Pierce still has enough left in the tank to help a team like the Clippers, and KG looks cooked. They might eventually have a role in management or coaching here, and I hope they do, but as players, it makes zero sense.

Yup.

There are two chances. Slim and None.

KG still has a year left. Danny isn't going to re-trade for KG. Pierce coming back would be possible depending on our other offseason moves but I could see him signing with the Clippers for a one year MLE type deal.

KG is cooked. He needs to retire.

Pierce? Depends on whether he's chasing a handful of millions or a graceful exit from the game.

love the idea

he can help mentor our youth. The Nets are a mess, and Kidd is a horrible coach. Thanks for the 3 first rounders though :)

I think Garnett retires most likely(unless he doesnt want to give up that last year and 12 million)

for Peirce, he returns to the nets or goes to someone like the Clippers where he can play with Doc. and be a roleplayer but start for that team and be close to home.

CP3/Jamal crawford/pierce/Griffin/Jordan  would be a good team.

but then again, if Lopez comes back healthy and D-will stays healthy the nets will be a force in the east.

I wonder if Brooklyn could trade a package of 2nd rounders, a 2019 first swap, and kg for a bad long term contract?...

The team receiving KG could buy him out and then he could go to LAC and reunite with Doc. Pierce could go there too as a free agent.

For example Brooklyn trades a package of 2nd rounders, a 2019 first swap, and kg to Detroit for josh smith. Detroit gets the picks, buys out KG, and gets cap space for 2015. Brooklyn gets something for KG.

I will admit I'd like to see PP end his career in Boston. KG I'm not nearly as attached too.

But my question is - is this an idea to make sure we tank again next year? Because KG is done. and PP is a shadow of himself.

To many people on this site think with their heart instead of their brain.

Absolute not. That Era has passed. Time to move on folks. Both these guys are over the hill as players. I'd rather give those spots to some young players.

An aging Paul Pierce is still a competitive role player or a great sixth man at best.

I would take Paul Pierce over half of the roster on this team any day. Like I've said so many times before, I don't think Deron Williams is a great passer, and he certainly didn't take advantage of his great crossover to be able to kick out to open players.

A healthy Rondo would've gotten Pierce to average over 14 PPG this year at least.

I was hoping you would say that they can trade KG and picks to Boston for Gerald Wallace and Brandon Bass...

I agree... the era where we were competitive has passed.  We are now a bottomfeeder team.  One of the bottom 5 teams in the entire league.  With Rondo running the show, we had a 16 win pace.  Just dreadful.

But now we shall build around young guys like our 2014 #6 pick.  And I'd love for us to bring Pierce back to mentor the youths if he's up for it.

If we pull off a Love trade (in which I'd expect Jeff Green to be outbound), then I definitely think Pierce would consider returning. KG's not an option except through trade, and I don't see that happening.
