Its realistic but im not really a big fan of the return we r getting... Keep in mind that the 17th pick could be much better than Otto Porter... Gortat os an awesome player but i dont think he's the rim protector were gonna get..

There are several problems with this trade:

1)  Washington is supposedly motivated to make this trade because they don't want to spend the money on Gortat.  Yet, Washington takes in more money for next season with the trade (both in total dollars and in cap hit for next season). If Washington decides to keep Asik and Green beyond next season, it will undoubtedly cost more than it would have to keep Gortat and Porter because Porter's cost-controlled rookie contract extends for three more seasons.

In other words, by the very logic ascribed to the Wizards by the OP, the Wizards would have to reject this trade.

2)  Washington cannot trade Gortat "before he walks."  Gortat is a free agent and hence would have to agree to any sign and trade.  I'm not sure why Gortat would choose Boston unless we overpay him.

3)  New York says no.

3)  New York says no.

1) Gortat is in for a big pay day in my eyes like 14- 15 mil. so 14 and ottos 4 is 18 mil vs asik and greens combined 17 mil....plus they could let asik walk next year or trade him later.........SO yes they are only saving a mil but  still get to have a C if they know gortat wants out and they want green, not so much porter as he has barely played

2) I mis-worded it i was implying a S&T....basically gortat tells him his price and they dont wanna pay 14-15 for one guy esp when john wall's salary doubles next year and they re gonna have to pay big $ to keep beal in a few years

3) NY could say no......but they could say yes bc they get quality role players/pieces in which they may be able to package in and trade plus 2 first round picks in a deep draft.....in which they could draft 2 quality guys or try to trade up or any number of things. The wild card for NY is Phil Jackson....does he really want melo , does he wanna start from scratch, what does phil want bc he is gonna get it!

Wash is probably on the fence on this.  Asik is a downgrade from Gortat in terms of overall game but Green is a big upgrade on the other 2 combined.

Celtics say no thanks.  remove the pick and we'll talk.

Houston laughs hysterically in joy

NY says, no thanks.  not enough for Melo.  2 late picks and end of rotation bench players.

without looking at the monies, Houston would have to at least send NY Parsons and another pick if not more.  Gortat's a nice pick up for the C's IF they were a better team.  C's would need to add another serious talent to make it worth picking up Gortat so that his talent isn't wasted on a playoff-chasing team.
