I think I'd like to see Nate McMillan in the running for that Detroit head coach position.
Ew

Not a fan of McMillan as an offensive coach myself, and I think that roster is really rough on that end.

I think you have to do something to improve the defense with that roster. They were top 3 scoring in the East last year.
They already relied on crashing the glass to even get to 19th in ORTG, ugly basketball. They'd just play slower and crash the glass more with McMillan probably.

They definitely need to improve their defense, but I like SVG's chops on that end more than McMillan.

Great move by the pistons if they land SVG. He's a great coach, and would do wonders with Drummond, who is a smarter version of a young Dwight Howard IMO.

Van Gundy's system brought the best out of Dwight Howard in Orlando. [...]

That's a good observation.  It seemed at the time that Dwight really hated playing for Stan.  Wonder if he realizes by now that SVG got more out of him than anybody has.

Sidenote: I wonder what Kerr's demands of the Warriors are now that they're trying to snag him again after missing with SVG. He's got to be asking for comparable package, right?
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Stan Van Gundy and Detroit are negotiating on a five-year, $35M deal, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.
Hard to imagine GSW topping that. That is a lot of money!

Good for Stan...I mean, 5-years for $35 Million?!?!

That's a TON of money for a guy who has never won anything...

I like this fit. The Pistons need leadership, discipline. They have the talent, but nothing to show for it so far.

Yeah, it's going to be an interesting summer in Detroit.

Is Van Gundy going to scrap the roster, and look to put shooters around Drummond? Will he try to resign Monroe, and go for a twin towers look?

Maybe he will build around Drummond like he did young Dwight. Green could be his rashard.

SVG and Pistons ownership are reportedly "big fans" of Greg Monroe.

Interesting - I guess they wanted to address an issue that would most certainly come up in the next couple of days. If they can find a deal they like for Monroe, I think they deal him - otherwise, it makes sense to sign him, as he is obviously a valuable piece to keep or trade in the future.

I wonder if they would trade Drummond instead. Keep G.Monroe and J.Smith. Two more "win-now" type players. Detroit could get a very nice trade package for Drummond. Could set them up nicely in a different direction.
