to possibly our 2nd pick? with him skipping the combine on top of his back issues. is it really crazy to think this guy could fall?

sullinger was in a similar situation wasn't he?

Embiid is a legit 7' with much, much more potential than Sullinger had. I can't imagine him dropping below 5.

There is no possibly way he drops to the late teens, and if he does miraculously drop that far, you can bet your bottom dollar one of the elite teams in the league will be throwing trade packages together with multiple first rounders among others thing to trade up and grab him.

Not a chance. I don't think there is any reason to think Embiid doesn't go top 3.

I think Embiid will be a great player if he can stay healthy. Taking him would be a pretty big risk because we really don't want another Greg Oden. Also he seems to me a bit cocky not going to the combine because if you are a great player, go out there and show it! I'd probably draft Wiggins before him since he's a safer choice and could develop into an amazing player. I still don't think he will drop below the fourth pick (Exum or Parker might take his place)  because his game is great, and he could well be worth the risk.

Sullinger was in a bit different situation because there wasn't a much hype about him as there is with Embiid, so Embiid shouldn't drop as low as Sully.

A simple way to answer this is to ask yourself, if he fell to us at 5 would we pass on him?
No? Neither would anyone else.

I think it is crazy to think he will drop to the Celtics 1st pick if they don't win the lotto.

Plus, the other top two picks are also skipping the combine.  It is a non-issue for those drafting him.

He could fall to 5 or 6 only if his back issues are severe, very severe.

Even then its unlikely.

agreed.

thinking of Noel's situation last year.

Noel's a lesser prospect than Embiid who had a significant injury that team's knew would cost him a year of playing.  He only slipped to 6th in an extremely weak draft.

No way Embiid slides past 3.  Even if the draft order stays as it is post-lottery where the C's are really the first team in line without a young center, no way Embiid lasts until number 5.  none.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Embiid were to last until #3 and the team with the 3rd pick was comfortable with the center they already have, I'd almost bet on that team making a deal with someone looking to move up a few spots to grab him while that team gets a pick only a few spots later while picking up another significant asset or 2

If he drops at all, it might be down to 5 or possibly 6 (that would shock me).  Won't be any lower than that.

The talent is too tantalizing and, as long as no major injury red flags pop up, some GM is going to jump at him early.

see me personally if i'm drafting in the top 10 I want as close to a sure thing as I can get. which is why I was wondering if teams that at the top might be scared off.

but back to sully I could've sworn I remember them saying he was a top lottery pick the season before he got injured.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a team take Exum over him and drop him to 4, but that's about it.

I am obviously hoping that we land a top 3 pick, but also agree that a team might choose to trade out of the top 3 if they aren't totally comfortable.

As for Noel dropping last year, I think that should give a team looking to draft Embiid at 5-6 even more hope since this year's draft is considered much stronger.

If he drops to Celtics spot, I'll be a happy fan.

Then if Dario Saric is available at #17, that's a terrific draft for the Cs.
